Royalty applications due by July 2
The Idaho County Fair Royalty is seeking young ladies ages 14 to 18 interested in participation in the 2018-2019 royalty program. Girls must be going into their sophomore through seniors years of high school and be available through the completion of the fair. Deadline for applicants is July 2. The competition includes (1) contestant picnic sponsored by the 2017-2018 royalty scheduled for July 11, (2) a catered luncheon set for July 25, and (3) participation in the fashion show on August 15 and (4) the crowning on August 17. All contestants are required to attend each one of these events. During the luncheon on July 15, participants are asked to give a two to three minute speech and will have a personal interview with three judges from outside Idaho County. Candidates must complete an application which is part of the judging, write and present their speech and be interviewed. The event is open to all young ladies age 14 to 18 in Idaho County. All candidates need to have 2 years of experience with the fair either through 4-H or through entries in open class. The queen is awarded a $450 scholarship and each princess is awarded $350. There is also an expense account to help with clothing, float and other costs during their reign. Current Idaho County fair Royalty includes: Queen Rachel Chmelik of Grangeville, 1st Princess Sierah Poxleitner of Cottonwood and 2nd Princess Emma Gehring of Cottonwood. Royalty applications can be picked up at the Idaho County Extension office located in the Idaho County Courthouse or by calling Idaho County Fair Royalty advisor, Joyce Gehring-Sonnen (208) 962-5850 or email jogehring@hotmail.com. Application can be mailed to Joyce Gehring-Sonnen at 613 Reservation Line Rd., Cottonwood, ID 83522 (preferred) or dropped off at the Extension Office. All applications are due by July 2. |
