Idaho County Farm Bureau scholarships awarded
Three graduating seniors from Prairie High School and one from Grangeville High School received scholarships from Idaho County Farm Bureau. Participating students were asked to read The New Road to Serfdom and then complete an objective (multiple choice) exam. Those receiving the highest scores are: Molly Schwartz, Leah Higgins and Alexis Shears from Prairie High School and Marie Hauger from Grangeville High School.
Molly is the daughter of Jared and Ann Schwartz of Ferdinand. She is planning to attend the University of Idaho majoring in Elementary Education. She received the scholarship for $2000.
Leah Higgins is the daughter of Brad and Cindy Higgins, Cottonwood, plans to attend Gonzaga University majoring in Nursing-Nurse Anesthetist. Her scholarship was for $1000.
Alexis Shears, daughter of Kris and Erica Shears, also of Cottonwood, is planning to attend Boise State University and major in Elementary Education. She received the scholarship for $1000.
Since Alexis and Leah received the same score, their scholarship was shared equally.
Marie Hauger, daughter of Mike and Kristin Hauger, Grangeville, plans to attend the University of Idaho and major in Ag Science. Her scholarship was $2000.
Idaho County Farm Bureau’s scholarship program is threefold: 1) To aid financially those students who plan on attending college; 2) To expose students to a conservative viewpoint concerning government, economics and history; 3) To create a competitive and objective scholarship that rewards personal industry and academic excellence.
Congratulations to our 2018 graduating senior winners!
