Craigmont's June Picnic is this weekend
Craigmont’s 98th annual June Picnic celebration takes place this Friday, Saturday and Sunday, June 22-24.
This year’s grand marshals are Lyle and Shelley Kuther.
The theme this year is “Summer Dreams and a Prairie Breeze.”
Friday’s action starts with the Horseshoe Tournament at 3 p.m. at the City Park.  The tournament will continue on Saturday at 2 p.m.
Several events get going on Friday at 5 p.m. The Craigmont Lions Club opens their Famous Burger Barn on Main Street. It will open again at 9 a.m. on Saturday and on Sunday it moves to the City Park where it will again open at 9 a.m.
Also at 5 p.m. is the Bacon Wheel sponsored by the Winchester Gun Club. It will be on Main Street.
At Highland School the 3 on 3 basketball tournament also starts at 5 p.m.
Also at 5 p.m. the Dunk Tank will be in operation at the City Park. It will start up again on Saturday at 11 a.m.
At 5:30 p.m. the Co-ed Softball Tournament gets started at Tatko Field, the newly finished softball field in town. The Tournament continues on Saturday starting at 7:30 a.m.
Saturday’s activities start with a breakfast sponsored by FFA supporters at Woody’s Café at 7 a.m.
The Fun Run/Walk start at 8 a.m. at Highland School. Registration starts for the event at 7:30 a.m.
Also at 8 a.m. the Co-ed Volleyball Tournament starts at the City Park.
At 9 a.m. there will be a Baseball Field Dedication at Tatko Field.
The annual June Picnic Paraded starts at 10 a.m. on Main Street with registration starting at 8 a.m.
Concessions will open in the City Park area at 11 a.m.
From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sidewalk Chalk Artists are invited to show their artistry. Judging will be at 2 p.m.
From 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Prairie Bowl will have Bowling for a Buck.
At 11:45 a.m. the Ping Pong Ball Drop will be at the City Park with Tom Gehring piloting the plane that drops the balls.
At noon the Kid’s Races will start at the City Park as will the American Legion BBQ. Also starting at noon at the park will be Music in the Park at the bandshell.
At 1 p.m. there will be a Quilts of Valor presentation at the City Park.
At 2 p.m. the Farm Table Café is hosting Pie and Ice Cream Eating contests.
At 4:30 p.m. action returns to Main Street for the Egg Toss. Start registering at 3:45 p.m.
At 5:30 p.m. there will be a Burger Easting Contest at the Lions Burger Barn on Main Street. Registration starts at 5 p.m.
At 6 p.m. there will be Gold Fish Races.
At 7 p.m. the Street Dance gets underway with music by “Ruff Kutt.”
At 8 p.m. the June Picnic and Lions Club drawings will be held.
On Sunday, June 24 there is an ATV/UTV Treasure Hunt with registration starting at 11:30 a.m. at the City Park.
