September schedule for LCSC Small Business Development Center
Six workshops, including three in Lewiston and one each in Grangeville, Moscow and Riggins, highlight the September offerings by the North Central Idaho Small Business Development Center at Lewis-Clark State College.
Topics for the workshops during the month include selling items on Amazon, social media, Quickbooks, accounting basics, starting a business, and small business innovation research funds.

Selling on Amazon is the first workshop as it will be held on Sept. 13 at 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the LCSC ISBDC office, located at 406 Main St. in Lewiston. The fee is $10 and the instructor is Aziz Makhani from Washington State University. The workshop will teach participants how to register, post, and market products on Amazon, as well as manage their inventory.
The Small Business Innovation Research road tour will be in Moscow on Sept. 18 at 2-5 p.m. at the 1912 Center, located at 412 3rd St. The event is free and is for technology entrepreneurs, innovators and business owners, who can learn how to access early stage technology funds through different programs. Presenters will include Idaho Commerce, Idaho National Laboratories, the University of Idaho Technology Transfer Office, the Idaho Department of Labor, local libraries, and the ISBDC. Also on Sept. 18 will be a social media workshop in Riggins at 6-8 p.m., MDT, held at the Riggins City Council Chambers, located at 126 Main St. The fee is $10 and Gavin Lewis will be the instructor. The workshop will cover how a business can extend its market reach and find new customers using Facebook, Instagram, and Snapchat to get a better rate of return on posts and ads.
The Easy Business Start workshop will be held at 5:30-8:30 p.m. on Sept. 20 at the ISBDC office in Lewiston. The workshop has a $20 fee and will be taught by Barbara Leachman. Topics that will be covered include making a new business start easier by having the right information up front, including checklists, plans, feasibility, value proposition, licensing, taxes, and capital. Participants will learn about important links, steps and resources before they invest time or money.
A QuickBooks Basics workshop will be held in Grangeville on Sept. 26 at the LCSC Outreach Center in Grangeville, located at 201 E. Main St. The workshop will be taught by Janice Gobbi and has an $85 fee. The workshop runs 9 a.m.-4 p.m. There is room for eight students. The workshop will cover QuickBooks training fundamentals. Participants will learn how to add customers, vendors, products and services, and also manage and reconcile bank accounts and credit cards. The hands-on course is held in a computer lab where there will be training exercises with the instructor. Call 208-983-8302 to pre-register.
The final September workshop, Accounting Basics, will be held in Lewiston on Sept. 27 at 5:30-8 p.m. Leachman will instruct the class, which has a $20 fee. The workshop will cover the basics of accounting, including records and decisions, language of money, reports, building wealth, taxes, and financial analysis tools.
