Lady Pirates sweep Potlatch
The Prairie Lady Pirates opened their regular season with a 3-game sweep of Potlatch at Cottonwood Tuesday, August 28. They won by scores of 25-19, 25-10 and 25-20.Alexis Hiler blocks a Potlatch spike at the net.
Hope Schwartz opened the first game with an ace but Potlatch was able to tie it. They then missed a serve and Prairie never gave up the lead. 
Alexis Hiler served 4 straight points which included 2 aces, a kill by Schwartz and a block by Jordyn Higgins to make it 9-3.
Potlatch rallied back within 2 at 12-10 and was able to keep it close the rest of the game. 
At 22-19, Hiler scored a kill to put Schwartz on the service line. Schwartz served an ace to get to game point and Hiler scored a kill on a set from Ashton Landers to end the game.
Prairie jumped out to a 7-0 lead in the second game as Higgins scored a kill for a sideout and Schwartz then served 6 straight. She had 3 aces and added a kill on a dig of a Potlatch spike. Theresa Wemhoff added a kill as did Madison Shears.
Potlatch scored a couple of points but a 4-point run by Hiler made it 14-2. She had 3 aces and Shears added a kill.
Prairie dominated the entire game as Potlatch never got close that 10 the rest of the way. 
Ellea Poxleitner scored a kill to send Wemhoff to the service line at 21-9 and Wemhoff served Prairie to game point at 24-9 before Potlatch warded off one game point. Needing 14 straight good serves, Potlatch couldn’t even get 1 as their first serve went long giving Prairie a 25-10 win.
The third game saw the Loggers take their first lead of the match as they were able to score first and built a 2-9 lead.
Prairie rallied and after Wemhoff scored a kill to make it 8-12, Shears got Prairie within 1 with 2 aces plus a kill by Wemhoff. 
Potlatch managed to hang on to the lead until a missed serve made it 18-19 and sent Landers to the service line. She served 3 straight aces to give Prairie their first lead of the game and added a second touch kill to make it 22-19.
After a trade of sideouts, Higgins served up 2 aces to end the match.
For the match Wemhoff had 8 kills, 3 assists and 4 aces. Higgins had 7 kills, including 2 blocks, and 2 aces. Poxleitner had 6 kills, including 2 blocks. Schwartz had 5 kills, 14 assists and 7 aces. Hiler had 4 kills, including a block, 1 assist and 6 aces. Shears had 3 kills and 3 aces. Landers had 2 kills, 9 assists and 3 aces. Sierra McWilliams had 1 kill and 1 ace.
Prairie is 1-0 on the season and 1-0 in league play.
Prairie won the JV match 2 games to 0. By scores of 25-8 and 25-20.
In the opening game Kelly Stubbers served 2 aces to give Prairie a 4-1 lead. After a trade of sideouts, Ellea Uhlenkott served 2 aces and Brooklyn Riener added a kill for an 8-2 lead.
Delaney Lockett was Prairie’s next server and served Prairie from a 9-4 lead to a dominant 16-4 lead. She had 6 aces and Halle Klapprich added a kill.
Potlatch scored 2 straight points but then Prairie got the sideout and Riener served the Lady Pirates to a 21-6 lead. She had 2 aces and Klapprich had 2 kills.
Klapprich then got to served out the game with 3 straight aces.
Potlatch led early on in the second game with Prairie not taking the lead until a pair of aces by Riener made it 10-8. Potlatch tied the score at 10 and again at 11 and 12 but Prairie took the lead for good on a missed serve that made it 13-12 and Stubbers followed with 3 straight aces.
Potlatch got back within 1 at 16-15 but a score by Lockett kept them from tying and Prairie held off the Loggers the rest of the way.
Josie Remacle was able to finish things with an ace to get to match point and Trinity Martinez scored the match-ending kill.
The C team also won both their games, no scores available.
