Lady Pirates beat C.V., Lapwai
The Prairie Lady Pirates picked up a pair of league wins this last week, winning in 3 at Clearwater Valley on Thursday, Sept. 6, and in 4 against Lapwai on Monday, Sept. 10.
Vs. C.V.
Prairie beat C.V. 25-17, 25-20 and 25-14.

The first game saw Prairie fall behind 2-3 but a kill be Theresa Wemhoff tied it and Alexis Hiler served Prairie to an 8-3 lead with 3 aces plus a kill each from Wemhoff and Hope Schwartz.
C.V. came right back to tie the game at 9-9. Prairie never trailed again but C.V. was able to tie the score again at 10 and again at 16 after falling behind by 4 at 14-10.
 A sideout kill by Wemhoff sent Hiler to the service line and she nearly served out the game. She had 4 aces and Madison Shears added 2 kills and Hiler added a back row kill to get Prairie to 24-16.
A wide return gave C.V. the chance to serve again and they missed wide to give Prairie the game.
Prairie fell behind early in the second game 1-7 and 2-10.
A block by Ellea Poxleitner scored a sideout and sent Ashton Landers to the service line. Prairie was up 15-10 before she gave back the serve. Out of the 12 straight service points she had 9 aces. Poxleitner, Wemhoff and Schwartz each added a kill.
The two teams played even the rest of the game as Prairie wound up winning by 5.
C.V. scored first in the second game but Prairie tied it on a kill by Hiler and Schwartz served them into the lead with a ace followed by a pair of kills from Jordyn Higgins.
C.V. came back to take a 5-6 lead but Wemhoff scored a kill and Hiler served 2 aces to give Prairie the lead for good.
C.V. managed to get back within 1 at 11-10 but then bricked a serve when they had the chance to tie. Wemhoff then served 4 points, 1 ace, 2 kills by Higgins and a kill by Poxleitner for a 16-10 lead.
Prairie’s lead held at 4-6 points until Higgins scored a sideout kill that put herself on the service line at 20-14. She then served out the match with 4 aces plus a net violation by C.V.
For the match Higgins had 11 kills, 1 assist and 4 aces. Wemhoff had 9 kills and 1 ace. Hiler had 6 kills including a block, 1 assists and 9 aces. Poxleitner had 5 kills including a block and 1 assist. Schwartz had 3 kills, 14 assists and 1 ace. Shears had 3 kills, 1 assist and 2 aces. Landers had 1 kill, 12 assists and 11 aces.
The JV team also won 3 games by scores of 25-16, 25-17, 15-8.
Prairie got off to a great start as Ellea Uhlenkott scored a game opening kill and Anna Kaschmitter followed with 5 straight aces for a 6-0 lead. Kelly Stubbers added a kill to make it 7-0 before C.V. scored their first point.
C.V. rallied back to make it a game though as they rallied all the way back to take the lead at 12-13.
A kill by Stubbers tied it then Sydnee Bruegeman served 5 straight points, 4 of them aces with Uhlenkott adding a kill for an 18-13 lead.
C.V. could only get back within 3 at 19-16 before missing a serve. Stubbers then served out the game. She had 3 aces and Uhlenkott and Brooklyn Riener each added a kill to make it 25-16.
C.V. scored first in the second game and held the lead until Bruegeman scored a kill with Uhlenkott serving to make it 10-9. C.V. tied it but Delaney Lockett scored a kill and Kaschmitter served Prairie into the lead for good. Kaschmitter had 2 aces with Halle Klapprich and Bruegeman each adding a kill for a 15-10 lead.
C.V. rallied back within 2 at 16-14 but a kill by Lockett and 3 service points from Bruegeman pushed the lead back to 6 at 20-14.
C.V. got back within 3 at 20-17 but a kill by Trinity Martinez sent Lockett to the service line and Lockett served out the game with 4 straight aces.
C.V. again took the early lead in the third game  and Prairie wouldn’t lead until Bruegeman won a joust at the net to make it 8-7.
After a sideout Klapprich scored the sideout for Prairie to make it 9-8 and Bruegeman then served out the match. She had 4 aces and Uhlenkott added 2 kills for the 15-8 final score.
The C team also won all 3 games.
Vs. Lapwai
The Prairie Lady Pirates outlasted Lapwai in 4 games to pick up a league win by scores of 25-20, 25-10, 21-25 and 25-20 Monday, Sept. 10 at Cottonwood.
TEllea Poxleitner duals a Lapwai player at the net.he Pirates started well in the opening game as Kristyna Krogh, in her first regular season action (she played some in the Jamboree) served Prairie to a 3-0 lead.
Lapwai came back to tie at 4-4 before bricking a serve and Hiler served Prairie to an 11-4 lead with 4 aces plus a kill each by Landers and Wemhoff.
Lapwai began to chip away at the lead and eventually took a brief lead at 19-20. At that point Prairie took a timeout and Landers made a set to Shears for a kill that put Hiler on the service line.
Hiler was able to serve out the game with 2 aces plus a kill each by Shears and Landers and a block by Wemhoff.
Lapwai served first in the second game and Higgins scored the kill to send Krogh to the service lin. Krogh served Prairie to a 7-0 lead with 4 aces and set up kills by Higgins and Wemhoff.
Prairie dominated the rest of the game with Shears having a 4 point service run that included 2 aces and a kill each by Hiler and Higgins that took the score to 19-7. Higgins then took over the serve at 21-10 and served out the game.  Shears had 2 kills and Hiler had 1 and Higgins closed out the game with Lapwai making a net violation on her serve.
The third game started well with Krogh serving up 2 aces but then Lapwai took control as they came back to take leads of 3-5 and 4-9. Prairie’s biggest deficit was 8 at 8-16 and 9-17.
Lapwai got to game point at 17-24 but Prairie was able to fight off several game points. Landers scored a kill to put Higgins on the service line. Wemhoff and Krogh each scored a kill and Higgins served an ace to make it 21-24. Lapwai called a timeout and that apparently threw off Higgins rhythm as she served one short to give Lapwai the win.
Prairie took leads of 3-0 and 7-3 in the second game only to see Lapwai come back and take an 8-9 lead.
A kill by Krogh sent Wemhoff to the service line at 9-9 and she served Prairie to a 15-9 lead with 4 aces plus a block each by Shears and Higgins.
Lapwai was able to rally back within 1 point at 19-18 before Shears scored a sideout kill. Schwartz served 2 aces to make it 22-18.
After 4 straight sideouts, Prairie was at match point at 24-20. Higgins scored the match point kill on a slam that hit the top of the net and got down for the point.
For the match Higgins had 20 kills including a block plus 1 assist and 2 aces. Hiler had 10 kills, 1 assist and 8 aces. Wemhoff had 10 kills, including a block, 2 assists and 7 aces. Shears had 7 kills, including a block, 1 assist and 2 aces. Krogh had 5 kills, 30 assists and 9 aces. Landers had 4 kills and 9 assists. Poxleitner had 2 kills. Schwartz had 1 kill, 10 assists and 2 aces. McWilliams had 1 kill.
Prairie is now 3-0 on the season and 3-0 in league play.
The JV team won their match by scores of 18-25, 25-15 and 18-16.
Prairie trailed nearly the entire opening game and were down 9-15 when a kill by Stubbers sent Bruegeman to the service line for a 5 point  run that tied the score. 
Prairie eventually took the lead at 17-16 on another kill by Stubbers.
After 3 straight bad serves, Lapwai took the serve tied at 18-18. Lapwai then served out the game with 5 of the 7 points coming on aces.
The second game saw Prairie take the early leads of 3-0 and 7-2. Kaschmitter and Uhlenkott each served 2 aces for 4 of those 7 points.
Bruegeman added 2 more aces as the lead extended to 10 at 16-6.
Prairie’s biggest lead of the game was 11 at 18-7 after an ace by Kaschmitter.
Lapwai was able to get back within 6 at 20-14 but Prairie outscored them 5-1 after that with Lockett scoring 1 ace and Klapprich finishing off the game with 2 aces.
The third game was a battle from the start.
Prairie took a 6-3 lead after 3 serving points by Uhlenkott. Lapwai came back to tie at 6-6.
Prairie took a 9-6 lead on a kill by Lockett and then 2 serving aces by her.
Lapwai answered with 5 straight points and eventually took an 11-14 lead for a triple match point.
Uhlenkott scored a kill to send Kaschmitter to the service line. Riener scored a kill and Kaschmitter served an ace to tie the game at 14-14. Another kill by Riener gave Prairie a match point chance. Kaschmitter missed her next serve and Lapwai served an ace for another match point chance.
Lapwai missed the serve to tie it and send Riener to the service line. Lockett scored on a second touch push as the setter to give Prairie another match point chance. Uhlenkott then emphatically ended it when a Lapwai return set her up for a first touch smashing kill.

Volleyball schedule changes
The Prairie volleyball team has a schedule change.
On Sept. 20, Troy will be here and on Sept. 24 Prairie will be at Troy. Originally it was the other way around.
The change was made so that the girls don’t have a long road trip during Homecoming Week.
