Country team cancels out of 2 meets
The Prairie Crosscountry teams both took first in the team competition with Ciara Chaffee winning the varsity girls race and Zoey Hooper winning the junior high girls race at the Spartan Invite Tuesday, Sept. 25. The event took place at Deyo Reservoir near Weippe and involved Timberline and Kendrick along with Prairie. In the girls race Prairie was the only school to field a full team as Timberline and Kendrick each had just 1 runner. Chaffee won with a time of 25:04 with Kendra Duclos 2nd in 26.48 and Mattie Lustig right behind in 3rd in 26:49. Hope McIntire was 5th in 27:00 with Jessie Sonnen in 6th in 27:23, Kyleigh Duclos in 7th in 28:05 and Maria Schmidt in 9th in 28:11. The boys team edged out Kendrick for the team title 24- to 31 (lowest score wins). Tanner Hibbard was the top finisher for Prairie in 3rd place at 20:51. Devin Ross was 4th in 21:55. William Hooper was 6th in 23:00. Tyler Wemhoff, in his first race, was 7th in 23:08. Justin Lockett was 9th in 23:52 and Ryan Arnzen was 13th in 36:39. The top 5 finishers for each team count toward their team score. In the Junior High girls race Zoey Hooper took first in 13:06 while Julia Rehder was 4th in 16:45. Junior High races were 1.7 miles compared to 5000 meter or about 3.2 miles for the varsity races.
