At Genesee
The league match at Genesee saw Genesee even up the season series and pull into a tie with the Pirates for second place with their win.
If the two teams remain tied after the league schedule finished on Tuesday, Oct. 9, Prairie would be the #2 seed due to a tiebreaker. Prairie played at Lapwai while Genesee played at Potlatch.
Genesee also won the JV match.
Vs. Grangeville
Five seniors were honored at the final home match of the season for the Lady Pirates. They were Poxleitner, Jordyn Higgins, Wemhoff, Hiler and Krogh.
Those seniors plus junior Landers started the match for Prairie. For Higgins it was her first action since the Border Battle due to a knee injury.
Prairie got off to a slow start in the opening game as Grangeville led much of the way. Prairie took there first lead with Hiler serving. She had 2 aces and Poxleitner and Wemhoff each added a kill in a 4-point run.
Jordyn Higgins saw her first action in a couple of weeks on senior night as she goes for a spike against Grangeville.Prairie took an 11-7 lead as Landers had a 3-point run with an ace plus a kill each by Wemhoff and Krogh.
Things got ragged for the Pirates at that point as Grangeville built a 14-21 lead.
Prairie was able to close back with 2 at 21-23 before Grangeville scored to get to game point. Grangeville then bricked a serve.
With Wemhoff serving Poxleitner scored on a block and Shears added a kill to tie the game at 24-24.
Grangeville scored a kill but Shears answered with a kill to tie it again.
McWilliams served an ace to give Prairie their first game-point chance. After a Grangeville timeout, Krogh scored on a block to give Prairie the game.
A deflated Grangeville team, after coughing up 4 game point chances, fell behind 0-5 to open the second game as Krogh served 3 aces and Hiler added a pair of kills.
Higgins then served Prairie to an 11-2 lead with 3 aces plus 2 more kills by Hiler.
Prairie eventually led 17-4 before Grangeville started to rally.
Grangeville managed to cut the lead all the way down to 3 points at 22-19 before Grangeville got called on hitting a return wide of the antenna.
Wemhoff scored a kill to get to game-point.  Grangeville scored to make Prairie have to play one more point. On that one Poxleitner was able to save a pass that went wide and Wemhoff managed to get the ball back over the net and just inbounds to end the game.
In the third game Grangeville took a 1-3 lead but from that point on it was all Prairie.
Higgins served Prairie into the lead with a 4-point run. She had an ace while Schwartz, Hiler and Wemhoff each added a kill to make it 6-3.
Hiler and Wemhoff and Shears each had a 4-point service run to get the score to 24-7. At that point coach Julie Schumacher subbed in Poxleitner, who hadn’t served much during the season, to serve match point. Krogh wound up scoring the match-winning kill.
For the match Wemhoff, after a slow start, wound up with 15 kills and 2 aces. Poxleitner, who seems to save her best for Grangeville, had 11 kills, which included 2 blocks, plus an assist. At 19-17 Prairie finally created some separation with Riener serving 6 straight as Bruegeman dominated at the net with 4 kills. After a sideout, Kaschmitter scored the game-winning point on a free ball.
The second game was close early on with Grangeville leading several times early but never by more than a point.  Prairie took the lead with Stubbers serving as Remacle scored a pair of kills to make it 12-10.
Grangeville came back to retake the lead at 17-18 but then bricked a serve after 4 straight aces.
Klapprich served Prairie into the lead with an ace and added 2 more with Stubbers scoring 2 kills and Remacle another for a 24-18 lead. She then missed a serve and Grangeville scored a kill to get within 4.
