Goeckner wins Mystery Night grand prize
Congratulations to Joyce Goeckner, winner of this year’s Mystery Night Grand Prize!  ‘A Night on the Nile’ was held Saturday, October 13th at the Greencreek Hall.  A crown of nearly 400 enjoyed dinner, drinks, auctions and prize give-aways.
Decorations included giant wall murals of the parting of the Red Sea by Moses, and the burning bush high in the mountains.  Above the stage was huge pharaoh head, giving the stage area a sphinx look.
Alligator races were held as guests entered the hall.  Guests could bet on a numbered alligator, which would then flow down the “Nile”.  The guest with the winning alligator was entered into a drawing for Pharaoh’s treasure, $100 in gold coins.
The elimination raffle was the evening’s main event as one by one the 350 tickets were drawn.  Each 10th ticket drawn won that guest a trip on stage where they won a prize by luck of the draw, or by singing to the audience and taking their choice among all the prizes.  Stage MC’s were Josh Lustig as Pharaoh and Norm Sonnen as Moses, assisted by Egyptian beauties Kim Frei and Julie Sonnen.
The Grand Prize of $10,000 can be spent at any of our Mystery Night sponsors: Lindsley’s Furniture and Appliance, Sonnen Meats, Les Schwab Tire Center–Grangeville, B & A Performance Auto, Intermountain Feed & Mercantile, Chesky Woodworking, and Cottonwood Foods.
The Summit Academy Board of Directors also announced the school’s much anticipated new name, St. John Bosco Academy. (see related story)
Summit Academy thanks all those who helped make Mystery Night a success, especially Therese Schmidt and Shirley Stubbers who decorated, Shawn and Johanna Stubbers who headed up the kitchen crew, and Dale & Jeanne Stubbers in the bar. Prizes and auction items were procured by a committee headed by Alea Wassmuth. A very special thank you to Kyle Musick who served as the live auctioneer.
Summit Academy thanks all those who attended for making ‘A Night on the Nile’ another one for the memory books.
