Summit celebrates Holyween
Summit Academy elementary students and youngsters from the community participated in a Holyween celebration on November 1st, All Saints Day.  All were invited to dress as the saint of their choice.  Students in 6th through 12th grade created saint stations throughout the high school which the younger students navigated through by way of tunnel mazes.  At the end of the maze, the students were presented with skit about a saint.  The students rotated through all the mazes and skits until they had learned about five different saints.
First graders Audra Spencer and Maddie Stubbers both liked the St. John Bosco skit the best.  "They tricked us!" said Maddie.  Audra added, "They hid a penny from us."  St. John Bosco was a priest in Italy in the 1800's.  He learned circus stunts such as magic tricks and juggling which he performed for street children. After the show he invited the children to pray with him.  He helped secure honest work and lodging for the boys on the street, providing housing for over 800 boys by the 1860's.   St. John Bosco is the patron saint of school children.
St. John Bosco is the name Summit's Board of directors has decided on to better reflect our Catholic identity and new association with the Diocese.  This change will officially take effect on July 1, 2019.
Other saints represented by skits were St. Nicholas, St Elizabeth of Hungary, Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati and St. Maximillian Kolbe.
After the saint skits, the entire student body then proceeded to "Heaven", which had soft white billowing walls and glowing lights.  A litany of all the saints represented in costume and a reception followed.
