December events for Tri-Parish Youth
Dear Youth in Christ,
Let our hearts be open to the joy that happens this time of year as we prepare for the birth of our Savior.  We will be preparing with light, song, praise, gifts, leaning, laughter, decorating and more.  It is the time of the year to gather together to be the light of Christ to others so please join us as we share our light with those around us!
We begin the month celebrating with our youth who will be baptized at Easter time.  They will be introduced to the Catholic community on Sunday at 8:00 a.m. Mass on Dec. 2nd at St. Mary’s as a sign of beginning their Rite of Christian Initiation journey.  We are so excited they are joining us on this holy adventure and look forward to their full communion in the Spring.  The High School youth will be addressing and sending out Christmas cards to our college friends on Dec. 3rd at 7:00 p.m.  Please join us on this night of appreciation of our young adult community.  On Wed.  Dec 5th the Jr. High will meet after school at the PFFP building to bring the collected clothes to St. Vincent DePaul.  We will leave immediately after school.  Ryan Uhlenkott will be driving the bus down.  We also need some parents to chaperone and drive because we will have a large amount of kids and over 100 bags of clothes.  Each youth is asked to bring $10.00 to cover the cost of their food and we will return around 7:30. We will be sending home a permission slip, please sign it and return by Dec. 3rd if your child is planning on attending this night of service. On Dec. 6th the High School will meet at the City Shed in Cottonwood to decorate the float for the light parade.  We will meet at 4:00 p.m. and all High School and Jr. High youth are invited to attend.  We will have pizza at 6:00 for everyone who is helping.  We hope to have the float decorated by 7:00 p.m.   Please invite your friends.  Confirmation class will take place on Dec. 9th at 11:30 at the CEC building.   Line up for Light Parade is at 4:30 on Sunday Dec. 9th.  All youth who are riding the float need to meet at the City Shop at 3:15 to get dressed.  We will clean up after the parade at the City Shed so please note this is different than the past, everyone meets at the City shed to get dressed, not my office!
On Wed. Dec. 12th the High School will meet at 5:00 p.m. for our annual Lewiston “Walk through the lights and Movie Night”.  We will meet at the church parking lot at 4:45 and leave promptly at 5:00 to catch the 6:30 movie.  After the movie we will eat dinner and finish the night with a walk through the lights.  I am asking everyone to please bring enough for the movie and any snacks you want to eat.  Chaperones and drivers are needed for this great adventure.  Please contact Debbie if you are interested in going!  Dinner will be provided.  On Dc. 13th the Haiti team will have the Poinsettia’s available for pick up at St Mary’s Church.  They will be in the Sacred Heart room from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m..  If you have not paid, please pay when you pick them up!  Thank you so much for your support for our 2020 mission trip!
Dec. 16th brings with an invitation for all our youth and college students to place an ornament of the tree at the 10:00 a.m. Mass at St. Anthony’s Church.  We are excited for each of you to be represented on this special tree during the Christmas season.   On Dec. 17th the Jr. High will be heading to Grangeville for a night of Christmas fun.  We will leave the Church parking lot at 5:00 to head to have pizza.  We will follow dinner with a trip to the movies and then a walk through the lights at the Grangeville park.  I will need drivers and chaperones for this event so please call me as soon as you can if you would like to help!  I am asking the kids to bring enough money for the movie and any snacks they want to eat.  Pizza will be provided.  If they want to play games at the “Jungle” where we will be eating, they will have to bring money for the games.  We should be home by 9:00 p.m.  On Dec. 19th we are inviting everyone to a special night of Holiday fun.  The whole parish community is invited to join us for caroling followed by chili and cornbread.  The youth will then go to the Omg to finish the night with a white elephant gift exchange.  Our festivities will begin at St. Mary’s Church at 5:30 p.m.  I hope you can make it to this fun, family, holiday adventure.  We will have a trailer with hay bales for riding while we sing.  Please dress warm and let’s spread some Christmas cheer!
No youth group from Dec. 20th -27th On Dec. 28th at 7:00 p.m. The college students are invited to the Habit for a night of friendship. The high school youth will host this night with snacks and free coffees for the college group.  Please stop by and spend some time catching up with old friends during this special time of year.  We can’t wait to see you!
