Grazing Conference set for Jan. 8
The fifteenth annual Three Rivers Grazing Conference will be held on Tuesday, January 8th at the Williams Conference Center on the campus of Lewis-Clark State College in Lewiston.  The conference begins at 8:00 a.m. with a trade show featuring pasture and range equipment and supplies.  At 9:00 a.m. the presentations will begin.
This year’s entire conference will feature presentations by livestock producers sharing their experiences with a variety of grazing programs.  The morning session will feature talks by cattle producers Dave McFarland, from Salmon, Idaho on Ranch Succession and Ranch Management, along with Glenn Elzinga, also from Salmon talking about targeted grazing and cattle herding to reduce predation.  The morning season will conclude with a presentation by Craig Madsen a livestock producer from Edwall, Washington on targeted grazing using goats to control brush.
The afternoon session will start with a presentation by Nate Riggers and Drew Mosman, both from Nezperce, Idaho on the benefits of cover crop grazing.  Clint Zenner from Genesee will speak on livestock water developments in cropland.  Josh Jones from Troy will then present an update on his cover crop grazing program.  This will be followed by two presentations on using drones for cattle surveillance and herding from Denny Dau, Gifford, and Colton Hotkiss, Moscow, along with Dion Heckman, White Bird and Derrick Stuivenga, Grangeville.
Everyone is invited to attend the conference.  Cost of the conference is $15 if you pre-register by December 28th.  Cost at the door is $20. Registration includes lunch which will be served at noon.  Please call the Idaho County NRCS office at 208-983-1046 to register.
