Lady Pirates improve to 16-0
The Prairie Lady Pirates had a pair of blowout wins to improve to 16-0 on the season. On Tuesday, Jan. 15, they beat Kamiah 70-17 at Cottonwood and on Saturday, January 19, they won at Troy 62-34.
Vs. Kamiah
Prairie dominated Kamiah from the start. They jumped out to a 6-0 lead with India Peery scoring 2 free throws and a basket. After 2 free throws by Kamiah, Prairie then scored 19 straight to end the first quarter.India Peery shoots one of her three 3-pointers against Kamiah.
Prairie led 12-2 when Peery, Jordyn Higgins and Madison Shears each connected on a 3 pointer within a span of 1:23. 
Higgins scored the first 2 points of the second quarter to make it a 21-0 run. 
Kamiah got their first basket of the game at the 6:43 mark of the second quarter.  After a couple of Kamiah free throws made it 29-6, Prairie ended the half with a 15-2 run. Shears and Kristyna Krogh each had a 3-pointer in that run and Higgins added 7 points on 3 lay-ups and a free throw. Prairie led 44-8 at the half.
The domination continued in the third quarter as Prairie outscored the Kubs 16-2. Peery and Shears each added a 3 pointer while Kamiah was limited to just 6 shot attempts.
The fourth quarter was played with a running clock and Higgins and Krogh each added a 3-pointer to give Prairie 9 in the game.
Kamiah’s only 3-ponter of the game came on the final basket of the game.
Higgins scored 21 points to lead the Pirates with Peery adding 12 and Shears 11. Krogh and Ciara Chaffee scored 8 each with Alexis Hiler scoring 6 and Theresa Wemhoff 4.
Prairie had a 31-25 edge on the boards led by Peery with 8.
4 different plays had at least 5 steals led by Krogh with 7. Hiler, Peery and Higgins each had 5. Higgins and Krogh each had 4 assists.
Prairie was 25 for 63 from the field, 40%, and 9 for 10 at the line, 90%. Kamiah was 5 for 24 from the field, 21%, and 6 for 10 at the line, 60%.
In the JV game it was tied at 6-6 midway through the first quarter but Prairie scored 8 straight points and wound up winning easily, 51-19.
After Kamiah tied it at 6-6, Ali Rehder, Ellea Uhlenkott and Hope Schwartz each scored to make it 12-6 at the end of the quarter. Delanie Lockett scored to open the second quarter to make it 14-6.
Prairie outscored Kamiah 8-4 in the second quarter to take a 20-10 lead at the half. Uhlenkott and Lockett each had 6 points in the half.
Prairie blew the game open in the third quarter as they started it with a 12-0 run with Schwartz scoring 6 of those points. 
Kamiah finally scored on a banked in 3-pointer with 3:40 left but that would be their only points of the quarter. Uhlenkott scored 4 and Lockett 2 as Prairie closed out the third quarter with a 6-0 run for a 38-13 lead.
Rehder had Prairie’s only 3-pointer of the game for their first points in the fourth quarter and then followed that with a steal for a lay-up.
Prairie invoked the running clock with 4:26 left when Rehder scored on a putback.
Uhlenkott led the scoring with 12 points on 6 for 8 shooting with Schwartz adding 10 on 5 for 5 shooting. Lockett also scored 10 with Rehder scoring 9. Josie Remacle scored 5, Olivia Klapprich and Sydnee Bruegeman 2 each and Trinity Martinez 1.
Prairie had a 32-19 edge on the boards with the rebounding well -distributed as Lockett, Bruegeman and Molly Johnson each had 5 to lead the team. 
Lockett had 6 steals and 3 assists while Laney Forsmann had 4 assists.
The JV’s were 23 for 48 from the field, 48%, and 4 for 9 at the line, 44%. Kamiah was 9 for 30 from the field, 30%, and 0 for 6 at the line.

At Troy
Peery got the Pirates off to a strong start at Troy with 8 points including a pair of 3-pointers as Prairie took a 15-4 lead.
Troy answered with a 2-6 run that cut the lead to 7 but a 3-pointer by Chaffee in the final seconds gave Prairie a 21-11 lead at the end of the first quarter.

Troy was able to trim 3 points off the lead at 37-19 but Prairie ended the half with 6 straight for a 43-19 halftime lead. Higgins scored 9 points in the quarter and she and Peery each had 12 points by halftime.
Troy scored to open the second quarter but Prairie followed with an 11-0 run with steals being directly responsible for 7 of those points. Peery capped the run with her third 3-pointer of the game.
Two free throws ended that run but Peery drove for a lay-up at the buzzer that made it 56-23 after 3 quarters, invoking the running clock mercy rule in the fourth quarter.
Troy outscored Prairie in the fourth quarter 6-11 but it wasn’t near enough to erase a 33-point deficit.
Peery wound up with 20 points to lead the Pirates with Higgins adding 14. Shears scored 9, Hiler 5, Chaffee and Krogh 4 each and Wemhoff, Uhlenkott and Sydnee Bruegeman 2 each.
Troy had the rebounding edge at 25-32. Peery led Prairie with 7 rebounds while Chaffee had 6.
Chaffee had 6 steals while Shears and Peery had 4 each as Prairie racked up 23 total steals out of Troy’s 35 turnovers.
Hiler had 4 assists to lead the team.
Prairie was 23 for 48 from the field, 48%, and 11 for 17 at the line, 65%. Troy was 12 for 34 from the field, 35%, and 8 for 12 at the line, 67%.
Prairie is still unbeaten at 16-0, 11-0 in league play. Their only remaining league game is this Thursday at Lapwai. They can finish no worse than tied for first in league.
The JV team also won by a score of 46-13. 
Prairie jumped out to a 13-0 lead and led 15-4 at the end of the first quarter as Bruegeman hit 4 of 4 from the field and 1 for 1 from the line for 9 first quarter points.
Johnson added a 3-pointer and Schwartz also scored 3 in the quarter.
Prairie held Troy to just 3 free throws in the second quarter as they built their lead to 24-7 by halftime. Bruegeman added 4 more points while Martinez and Forsmann each scored 2 and Klapprich 1.
Prairie opened the second half with a 12-0 run with Lockett scoring 6 of those points for a 36-7 lead.
Each team scored 4 points over the next 4 minutes with Martinez scoring a putback at the buzzer for a 42-11 lead after 3 quarters. That put the fourth quarter into running block mode were Prairie outscored Troy 4-2.
Bruegeman had 15 points to lead the team in scoring with Lockett adding 6 and Johnson 5. Uhlenkott, Martinez and Remacle each scored 4 with Johnson scoring 3, Rehder and Forsmann 2 each and Klapprich 1 as everybody scored.
Prairie dominated the boards 29-12 with Forsmann leading the team with 6.
Lockett had 5 steals and 5 assists while Bruegeman, Uhlenkott and Martinez had 3 steals each.  
The JV’s were 21 for 43 from the field, 49%, and 3 for 11 at the line, 27%. Troy was 4 for 15 from the field, 27%, and 5 for 10 at the line, 50%.
