wins season finale
The Summit Academy Lady Patriots won their regular season finale, 36-34 over Timberline at Cottonwood Tuesday, Jan. 22. That gave them a season split with the Spartans. Taylor Lustig had a double-double on Senior Night with 14 points and 11 rebounds to lead the team. Summit took, an 8-5 lead by the end of the first quarter but led just 12-11 at the half. The Patriots outscored Timberline 10-2 in the third quarter to take a 22-13 lead into the fourth. Timberline rallied to get within 2 in the final seconds but Lustig was able to break the press and dribble out the final 8 seconds for the win. Lexi Currier was also in double figures on the scoring side with 12 points with Erin Chmelik scoring 4, Jade Prigge 3, Jessie Sonnen 2 and Dani Sonnen 1. Chmelik also contributed big on the board with 11 rebounds. Summit winds up their season with a 7-6 overall record, 6-6 in league play. They get to host a District game Saturday, Feb. 2 at 3 p.m. at the Auxiliary Gym in Cottonwood. They will play the winner of the Highland-Logos play-in game set for Tuesday, Jan. 29 at Craigmont.
