Lady Pirates win 2 of 4
The Prairie Lady Pirates finally got back on the field this past week and played their first 4 league games of the season.
On Tuesday, April 16, they traveled to Kendrick and were swept in a doubleheader, 3-8 and 5-16.
On Thursday, April 18, they traveled to Culdesac and picked up their first two wins of the season 15-10 and 14-13.
A doubleheader scheduled for Saturday at Lapwai was rained out and the home game against Pomeroy set for Monday, April 22 was also cancelled.
At Kendrick
The Lady Pirates were done in by a bad inning in each game at Kendrick. In the opening game it was the fourth inning and in the second game it was the first.
In the opener Kendrick scored in the top of the first on a double followed by a triple.Madison Shears gets congratulated by coach Jeff Martin as she rounds third after a 2-run homer at Kendrick.
Pitcher Sydnee Bruegeman then got through the second and third allowing just 1 baserunner.
Things came unraveled in the fourth as the first 4 hitters all reach base on 2 singles, a walk and a hit batsman. After an out the next four batters all reached with 7 runs crossing the plate.
Prairie got on the board in the bottom of the fourth when Hope Schwartz reached on a 2 out single and Alexis Hiler followed with a single to left that was misplayed into a 2-base error that allowed Schwartz to score all the way from first.
Prairie cut the lead to 8-3 in the bottom of the fifth with another 2-out rally. Kristyna Krogh was hit by a pitch with 2 outs and Madison Shears followed with a 2-run homer over the fence in left.
Neither team scored in the final 2 innings as Kendrick held on to win.
Prairie had 4 hits in the game, a homer and a single and 2 RBI by Shears and a single each by Schwartz and Hiler.
Bruegeman gave up 8 runs on 9 hits with 4 walks, 2 hit batters and 2 strikeouts.
In the second game Prairie went out in order in the top of the first and Kendrick then sent 15 batters to the plate in the bottom of the first. They had 8 hits but it was 5 errors that really hurt the Pirates. They still would have given up 5 or 6 runs without the errors instead of the 10 that did score.
Prairie had 2 more errors in the second that led to another run.
Prairie still trailed 0-11 after 3 innings and had just 1 hit, a double by Delanie Lockett to lead off the third.
In the fourth they put a rally together. India Peery led off with a single to left and Noelle Uhlenkott followed with a single up the middle. Kendrick threw to third to try and catch Peery and Uhlenkott was able to advance to second on the play. Schwartz then singled to right to score both runners.
After 2 outs were made, Lockett singled to left to score Eve Uhlenkott, who was running for Schwartz. Lockett stole second and scored on Josie Remacle’s single to right center to cut the deficit to 4-11.
Kendrick answered back with 5 runs in the bottom of the fourth on 3 hits, a walk and 2 more errors to take a 4-16 lead.
Prairie needed 3 runs in the fifth to keep the game going. Peery had a 1 out double to right and advanced to third on a groundout. Schwartz reached on an error at first as Peery scored but that was it for Prairie as the game ended on the 10-run mercy rule.
Prairie had 7 hits in the game. Lockett had a double and a single and an RBI. Peery had a single and a double. Schwartz had a single and 2 RBI. Remacle had an RBI single and Noelle Uhlenkott had a single.
Bruegeman gave up 16 runs on 12 hits with 2 walks and 3 strikeouts.

At Culdesac
In a wild doubleheader at Culdesac, Prairie picked up their first 2 wins of the season.

Prairie scored 1 each in the second and third innings to take a 5-2 lead but Culdesac answered with 1 in the third and 5 more in the fourth to take a 5-8 lead.
Prairie came back with 2 in the fifth to pull within 1 and added 3 in the sixth for a 10-8 lead.
Culdesac then tied it at 10 with 2 in the bottom of the sixth.
In the top of the 7th Prairie scored 5 runs and then was able to shut out the Wolves in the bottom of the 7th for the win.
Prairie had 11 hits in the game led by Noelle Uhlenkott who had 2 singles and a double. Peery had a double and a single. Kodie Tidwell had a triple. Mackenzie Key had a double and Schwartz, Lockett, Remacle and Ashton Landers each had a single.
Culdesac had 13 hits in the game.
In the second game the lead changed hands 3 times before it was over as it went to extra innings.
Culdesac jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the top of the first on 5 singles plus an error but Prairie answered back with 3 runs in the bottom of the first as they took advantage of a couple of Culdesac errors. 
Culdesac added 1 in the second and another run in the fourth but Prairie came back to tie it at 6-6 with 3 runs in the bottom of the fourth.
In the sixth Prairie took their first lead of the game with 4 runs for a 10-6 lead but Culdesac bounced back with 4 in the top of the seventh to tie the game at 10-10.
Prairie was unable to score in the bottom of the seventh as the game went to extra innings.
Culdesac took the lead back with 3 runs in the top of the eighth but Prairie bounced back in the bottom of the eighth. Prairie scored twice on passed balls to get back within a run then Lockett came up with a 2-run single to give Prairie a walk-off win.
Prairie had 8 hits in the game led by Peery who had 2 singles and a triple. Noelle Uhlenkott and Lockett each had a pair of singles and Hiler had a single.
Culdesac came up with 14 hits.
Prairie is now 2-4 on the season and 2-2 in league play.
