Music teacher is hired
The School Board held their regular August meeting Tuesday, August 20 and approved for hire a new music teacher.
Terryn Pitcher was approved for hire. She hasn’t quite earned her full certification so the board also approved the paperwork that will let her teach until she completes her certification in December.
Stacie Jackson was approved for hire as the new high school cook and Shelley Schlader was approved for the open social worker/Elementary counselor position.
The board also accepted the retirement of first grade teacher Cindy Schumacher effective Sept. 30. Board member Tara Klapprich asked if there would be a retirement party. Superintendent Rene’ Forsmann said she would look into it.
The school bus routes were approved. They are printed below.
The board approved the district and school handbooks as wells as the Elementary and Jr./Sr. High School schedules.
The Child Internet Protection Act regulations were reviewed and approved.
The board also had the questions answered regarding the section of the school policy manual that was reviewed last month. They voted to approve that section.
The auditor’s report was presented and the board voted to accept the report. They will review it and vote whether to approve it next meeting.
Forsmann reported all the summer facility projects have been completed and the buildings are ready for school to start August 28.
Forsmann had short administrative reports that were covered in the agenda.
Jon Rehder reported they had 132 students register. They have 3 new students, one 7th grader and two 8th graders. There were 3 other potential new students moving in by the start of school. 1 each in the 8th, 10th and 12th grade.
He estimated some 40+ students will be enrolling in dual credit classes. There are 12 dual credit classes being taught this fall.
Fall sports have started with 27 currently out for volleyball, 13 for cross country, 26 for football and 8 for cheerleading.
The first events are Sept. 3 at Potlatch for volleyball, Sept. 7 at Middleton against Raft River for varsity football, Sept. 5 at Lewis County (Nezperce) for JV football and Sept. 5 at Kamiah for Cross Country. 
They are still searching for a boys JV basketball coach.
Jr. High girls basketball has their first practice August 28 at the Elementary School. The Jr. High football team will start practice Monday, August 26. The girls first game is set for Sept. 10 at C.V. The first Jr. High football game is set for Sept. 5 at Timberline.
Picture day is Wednesday, Sept. 4. Packets will be sent home Friday, August 30.
There will be Chromebook carts in classrooms this year. Students will no longer be allowed to carry Chromebooks with them.
 The meeting adjourned at 7:57 p.m. The next regular meeting will be Monday, Sept. 16 at 7 p.m.
