Eric Williams Pastor, Cottonwood Community Church pastor@cottonwoodcommunitychurch.org Over the past few months I’ve used this column to comment on the coronavirus situation as it has progressed in our state and nation. It should be obvious to those who have read these articles I do not “toe the party line” when it comes to the COVID-19. Moreover, I am convinced the contrarian position on this subject is the biblically sound one. This is true because the Bible demands we pursue truth and do our best to live in harmony with truth. For, as the saying goes, all truth is God’s truth. The truth is, SARS-CoV-2 is a virus causing mild to no symptoms in the vast majority of those who carry it. This statement is supported by the facts. Indeed, a few weeks ago the UK’s chief medical officer was on national TV telling British citizens (not for the first time), “the great majority of people will not die from this ...a significant proportion will not get this virus at all ...of those who do, some won’t even know it ...of those who have symptoms, probably 80%, will not even need to see a doctor ...a few may need to go to hospital for a few days and probably less than 1% will end up in critical care” (see, https://off-guardian.org/2020/05/15/watch-uk-chief-medic-confirms-again-covid19-harmless-to-vast-majority/). Cautionary voices in the USA have been saying the same thing for months. For instance, John Ioannidis, Professor of Medicine of Health Research and Policy and of Biomedical Data Science at Stanford University School of Medicine and a Professor, by courtesy, of Statistics at Stanford University School of Humanities and Sciences (see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Ioannidis), has from the beginning of the hysteria counseled against lock-downs, social distancing, masking and so on. Dr. Ioannidis has been accurate each time he has ventured to predict the course of the virus and his research on the topic has shown conclusively that the SARS-CoV-2 is a virus comparable to the seasonal flu in all aspects. Moreover, Ioannidis has repeatedly called for a targeted approach designed to protect the segment of the population actually at risk: the elderly and infirm. Our failure to do so is shameful. We have also discovered we cannot trust the official “experts.” For instance, the ruling elite scoffed at the idea hydroxychloroquine might have a place in treating the COVID-19. This irrespective of peer reviewed studies showing chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine are alone effective against coronaviruses (see, https://www.jstage.jst.go.jp/article/bst/14/1/14_2020.01047/_article and https://www.nature.com/articles/s41422-020-0282-0). Moreover, they are zinc ionophores (they allow passage of zinc through the cell wall, see https://journals.plos.org/plosone/article?id=10.1371/journal.pone.0109180). Zinc is a powerful antiviral and it is this (very inexpensive) combination of hydroxychloroquine and zinc that has been found to be the “silver bullet” in treating the COVID-19 when used early in the onset of symptoms. Another area the “experts” have misled a gullible public is in the debate over masking as a means of reducing the spread of the SARS-CoV-2. In a nut shell, viruses are spread by fine aerosol particles; surgical masks, ear loop masks, homemade cloth masks and bandannas may catch large droplets but they do not stop the flow of virus laden aerosol particles. These flow freely around the top, bottom and sides of all but specially fitted masks designed specifically to filter viruses. Hence, Anothy Fauci was correct (at least once) when he said, “There’s no reason to be walking around with a mask.” (see, https://taketheredpillpeople.com/news/2020/05/11/video-dr-fauci-admits-face-masks-ineffective-against-coronavirus-2/. As to the apparent efficacy of masking in east Asian countries, the most plausible reason for the low impact of SARS-CoV-2 in those societies is that the virus made its way through the population before it was recognized as a novel coronavirus. In other words, by the time the rest of the world discovered SARS-CoV-2, Japan, South Korea, Singapore et al had already developed “herd immunity.” Finally, I urge you to educate yourself on the subject. Do not meekly submit to the mind-numbing drumbeat of doom sounded by the ruling and cultural elites. Take time to peruse the hundreds of articles linked at https://www.403-forbidden.us/main/home.htm.
