To the Editor, I was very impressed by what Queen Halle of the Idaho County Fair said (in the Idaho County Fair Premium Book) in summarizing her year as Queen. If 330 million plus people would have her attitude, we would all be in better shape. Lead on Queen Halle, Princess Paige and Princess Madison. We all need examples like you. Bonnie Gehring
No. 275 - 8/3/2020 Recent reading of new and rereading of old books has left myself, a frustrated old Red Neck, in a sad and unhappy state of mind! That reading has forced me to recall two old quotations that have meant a lot to me during my life as a family man and a teacher of many students! The first by George Santayana (1863-1952): "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it." The second is one I have come up by myself in some way: "You have to know the past, to understand the present in order to predict the future!" The first book referred to above that reminded me of the above quotations was written by a Dr. Fred Schwartz whose book published in 1960 was one of several books read by myself that year. The title: YOU CAN TRUST THE COMMUNISTS (TO BE COMMUNISTS) That book referred a few times to another 1950's masterpiece on the threat of International Communism, entitled THE NAKED COMMUNIST. Written by famous author of several books, Cleon Skousen, this book contained a 1950's captured list of Communist goals that have been listed here in earlier RNR's. Rereading that book of over 40 goals is always an eye opener, when one checks off the list the ones that have been accomplished by our declared enemy, Communism. Following is just a sample of those goals: #15: "Capture one or both political parties in the U.S." #17: "Get control of the schools. Use them as transmission belts for socialism...soften the curriculum....put the party line in textbooks." #20: "Infiltrate the press..." #25: "Break down standards of morality by promoting pornography and obscenity in books, motion pictures and TV." And many more! Anyway, back to the Schwartz book. One reviewer of several, Dr. Norm Geisler, had this to say: "America is at a crossroads. Nothing could be more important to our Nations's survival as a free republic than the ideas expressed in this book..." (1960). The book has been republished in its original form by David Noebel, who has added a lengthy Preface in which he discusses at length the obvious progress communism has made in our country. Intriguing also is a picture of fifty individuals on the cover, identified inside, who have had a major impact on our government and our way of life, documented in each case how that has been done. A reader will be shocked at how many famous people in our country today have identified themselves with the communist movement, with the picture on the cover of the book found often in our daily news. Finally, Dr Noebel has himself added five very disturbing chapters at the end of the book, documenting just how successful our declared enemies have been in taking down our country and its enviable way of life. That success during the last 60 years is enough to make an old Red Neck like myself sick to his stomach, especially in view of the fact that my teaching years came during that time! A second book, recently published and read for the first time by myself, is entitled: ERADICATE - BLOTTING OUT GOD IN AMERICA, by David Fiorazo. David "is an author, radio personality, speaker... actor...worked in radio for 24 years...became concerned about fading family values in America and complacency among Christians." You do not want to read this book if you are queasy about what is happening in public schools all across the U.S. Case after case is well documented by Mr Fiorazo. Required prayer to Allah in some schools, where the "Our Father" and the Ten Commandments are outlawed. Wholesale efforts by teachers at the lowest grade levels to convince their young students that old fashioned rules about sex and proper conduct taught by parents and religions are old fashioned and no longer applicable today. Actual cases of teacher mandated experience with the opposite sex are documented, time and place, with children at the lowest grade levels. Case after documented case of students at all levels in grade and high school who are ridiculed and even forced to apologize, or withdraw statements made or homework turned in. Hey! The past 60 years has definitely affected the present and our future! Jake Wren |
