26 turned out for Volleyball
There are 26 girls turned out for the Prairie volleyball team which starts their season this Wednesday, Sept. 2 at Highland. This was a late addition to the schedule.

3 of those 27 girls are from St. John Bosco Academy, which doesn’t have enough girls to field their own team.
Returnees on the varsity are seniors Madison Shears, Ellea Uhlenkott, Sierra McWilliams, Hope Schwartz and Halle Klapprich. Also returning varsity players are juniors Trinity Martinez and Delanie Lockett and sophomore Tara Schlader. Up from last year’s JV squad are juniors Josie Remacle and Jade Prigge. Prigge is from St. John Bosco.
On the JV team are juniors Ali Rehder, Olivia Klapprich, Laney Formann, Mackenzie Key and from SJB, Dani Sonnen. Sophomores on the JV team are Julia Rehder, Riley Enneking and Kristin Wemhoff. Freshmen on the JV team are Taylor Riener and Isabella Walsh.
Making up the C team are sophomores Holli Schumacher, Chloe Rowland and from SJB, Makayla Rose. Freshmen on the C team are Alli Geis, Miranda Klapprich and Ember Martin.
Julie Schumacher returns as head coach but there is a new JV coach with Kayla Schumacher taking the position long held by Marlene Forsmann, who retired after last season.
The schedule looks a lot different this year due to COVID-19. They dropped all the tournaments that were scheduled and except for Grangeville the varsity team is playing a league only schedule.
Prairie also has 3 Varsity-JV-Varsity matches. The ones against Kamiah and C.V. were originally tri-matches while the one against Lapwai is due to rescheduling of the Sept. 1 match at Lapwai as they have players and coaches affected by exposure to the virus.
Another change is the addition of Logos this year which got bumped up from Division 2 to Division 1 this year.
A late addition to the schedule is a home and home set of  JV-C matches against Lewiston.
State this year will be at Jerome.

Sierra McWilliams winds up for a spike as Halle Klapprich watches.

Delanie Lockett spikes the ball as Halle Klapprich attempts to block.
