Letters to the editor from this week's Chronicle

To the Editor:
I have been reading the letters to the Editor and am somewhat alarmed at what is being written about the use of masks!
Why are you attacking the Doctors, Nurses, and Health Care Organizations for telling you that it would be best for you to wear a mask?  They are the well-educated and dedicated people you chose to look out for your well-being and health. They are the ones who know you by sight and name in the communities like yours. Do you think if they would lie to you?  Because if they did it would be more money to them and to the facility where they work.  That is not who they are! When you need medical or mental help They will be coming to your aid!
Masks can’t do it by themselves, we have to maintain the minimum of 6 feet (social distancing), frequent hand washing, and not touching your face.  We have to use these recommendations for it to work the best.  This is not about loss of freedom and being told what to do. It’s about a life. I am not going to tell anyone that if they wear a mask, they are safe. I am not afraid of Covid-19, but I respect it. Just like I am not afraid of freeway driving, but I respect it as with Covid-19 and a crash, I am going to do what I can to avoid either one.   I don’t want to be one of the .94% number of deaths in Idaho. Do you?

To the Editor,
In news articles and letters to the editor the lefties demand that state and local authorities make the "difficult" choice and require mask use. Why is that choice difficult for them? It's difficult because the majority of "we the people" don't want it. This is America. We are free to wear a mask if we want. Or not. Businesses are free to require masks. Or not. Then we are free to enter those businesses. Or not. If you don't like unmasked people you are free to stay home or patronize only masked businesses. We are Americans and this country exists because we didn't (and still don't) want government controlling our lives. It IS about freedom and liberty.
Thanks

The enemy is the virus, not each other
By Governor Brad Little
The pandemic has presented great challenges for everyone across our state, country, and the world.
One of the greatest challenges perhaps is this – choosing to show compassion and support when the instinct is to fight and attack others who think, feel, and act differently than we do.
Communities, public officials, and even families are at odds in their views on COVID-19 and the response to it. Never have we seen this level of divisiveness.
And there certainly is a lot of blame being thrown around.
Everyone questions who is responsible for protecting ourselves, our loved ones, the economy, healthcare access, and our kids’ ability to learn in their classrooms.
The answer is all of us. We are all responsible, each in our own way, for doing our part to get us through this dark and difficult time.
The public health district boards, who are the default decision makers for public health under Idaho law, have made tough decisions to protect their communities. Mayors, county officials, and school board members, too, have stepped up. These courageous leaders have always had and will continue to have my support.
At the state level, we have equipped our hospitals with the resources they need to handle the impacts of COVID-19. We’ve also improved access to testing statewide and will continue to make therapeutics and a vaccine broadly available. We’ve taken numerous statewide actions over the past ten months to communicate the need to reduce transmission in our communities while protecting jobs and education.
And in our individual lives, we must do all we can to stay vigilant and consistently practice simple measures, including wearing a mask, avoiding gatherings and crowds, and keeping physical distance from others. Government alone is not going to prevent a crisis in our healthcare system. It is up to each of us as individuals to make the right choices.
There is an ugliness out there that we can overcome only by uniting around the true enemy – the virus, not each other.
Let us not be trapped into thinking the problem is someone else. The solution is all of us. We all have a role to play in fighting the enemy virus.
I know at times it can be hard to have compassion. But this Christmas season is a time to reflect on family, faith, and unity. Choose to support others while seeking to understand those who do not view things the way you do. We should not let the pandemic divide us, but make us stronger.

Redneck Review!
No. 295 - 12/21/2020
Wow!  More evidence of fraud popping up everywhere!  On the internet daily comes more bits of news!  On TV stations like Fox News, Newsmax, The Blaze.  The same on many  weekly or monthly magazines, there to be read by those interested!  But what do you not see on most of the mainline TV stations like NBC, CBS, ABC, CNN, etc?.  At least in any detail? Just how involved with China is Hunter Biden and his father Joe? What about the company Burisma, in  Ukraine? Are those company's huge salaries paid to Hunter with ties to his father Joe, while vice president in Obama's administration, common knowledge to most concerned Americans?
What about the new evidence of fraud in our recent Nov election? It looks like state legislatures are now involved. And seven of the most controversial states are making plans to send both Republican and Democrat electors to the certification meeting in January!
And oh, yes!  More and more news from some cites about the growing evidence that the Dominion machines used throughout many of the controversial states might be involved in swiching votes by the thousands from Trump to Biden! Finally, more and more voters and officials are joining the ranks of those who say the election was stolen from Trump!
But who knows?  Personally, it has never made sense to me that the election baffled pollsters around the country who predicted a "Blue Wave" of increased Democratic representatives in the House, and an odds favorable take over of the U.S. Senate. But what happened?  The large increase in representatives did not go to the Democrats, but instead to the Republican candidates, narrowing the Democrat numbers significantly!  And though final results still depend on the runoff vote for senators still coming in controversial Georgia, early voting suggested the Senate would still stay "Red" or Republican for the next couple of years.
Wise would be the person who waits and sees what the future proof will bring!  I count myself in that group!  But it does really concern me that it is common knowledge that 80 to 90% of our newspaper, college professors and TV people fall into the liberal bracket, and today seem very impressed with the promises of socialism!  Despite the failed history of all countries which
tried it in the past, Venezuela being a clear example today off of our southern border!
But starting last week, it is the intention here to review old evidence that is critical to the survival of nations.  With that in mind last week we took another look at Bastiat's book THE LAW!  In it he claimed in simple logic, that any nation which made theft, he called it PlUNDER, LEGAL since done by government,  actually was signing its death warrant from the beginning. He argues that nations which tolerate this LEGAL THUNDER find that eventually every one gets tired of being PLUNDERED, or heavily taxed, to pay for those who do not earn it, so eventually insists on their share of the taxed plunder. So that eventually it becomes necessary to borrow on the future or simply print money to satisfy all the people. We ask, "Is it not happening here?"
So we pause today to wish all of you a Happy Christmas, and ask that you pray for the survival  of our country and our way of life!  And for the next few weeks, we will concentrate here on the evidence from the past that tells us we are traveling the same destructive road traveled before!
Next weeks we will see how uncanny accurate was the lesson learned by Davy Crockett while in the national legislature, that government funds are "Not Your to Give." Such gifts must always involve a kind of Reverse Robin Hood effect!  And scary is it also how accurate professor Alexander Tyler's claim was that "Democracies only  survive an average of 200 years." It might cause us to remember that our nation today is almost 250 years old!
