9 turn out for Softball
There are just 9 Lady Pirates turned out for Softball this Spring, just barely enough to field a team.
They are hoping to recruit at least a couple more just in case.
Seniors out this year are Madison Shears and Eve Uhlenkott.
Juniors are Mackenzie Key, Josie Remacle, Gracie Farr and Laney Forsmann.
Sophomores are Riley Enneking and Tara Schlader.
Ember Martin is the lone freshman.
Jeff Martin will continue as coach this year with Steve Wilson as assistant. Sky Wilson, a former Prairie player will also help coach on a volunteer basis.
They were to have played Culdesac Tuesday, March 16 but neither team had enough practices. It looks like Thursday’s game at Lapwai will be the season opener.
The softball schedule is at the bottom of this page.

Local players in all-Star Games
Four Prairie Pirates and one St. John Bosco Patriot were selected for the annual District 2 Senior All-Star Basketball games held Friday, March 12 at Lapwai High School.

Madison Shears and Ellea Uhlenkott were selected from the girls team and played for the South team that won 60-54. Lori Mader helped coach the team.
Uhlenkott was named as the defensive player of the game.
Cole Schlader was selected from the Prairie boys team. He played for the South team that lost 81-84 to the North team. Tyler Wemhoff was also selected but bowed out due to an injury.
Also selected to play in the boys game was Wyatt Weckman of St. John Bosco Academy, the lone senior on their team. He also played for the South team.
Shears has also been selected to play in the North Idaho All-Star game which will be played Saturday, March 20 at 1 p.m. at Post Falls.
