Dusk to Dawn Tournament held
By Julie Schumacher
This last Friday starting at 4 PM eight varsity teams and three JV teams gathered at Prairie high school to play volleyball through the night until eight the following morning. The JV bracket consisted of two Prairie teams Saint John Bosco and a couple of the varsity teams that were willing to play a couple games with the JV kids. The prairie black team came out on top by winning a tiebreaker with Saint John Bosco.
The eight varsity teams competed in a round robin style tournament after every team had played each other the teams were put into order first through eighth. Then a single elimination bracket was made and the teams were placed accordingly. Moscow and Lakeland competed in the championship round with Moscow coming out on top.
In the round robin tournament Moscow went undefeated with seven wins, Lakeland from Rathdrum had six wins, Horseshoe Bend had five wins, Prairie had four wins,  Marsh Valley had three wins, Tri-Valley had two wins, Nez Perce had one win, and Timberline came in eighth with 0 wins.
In the first game of the single elimination bracket Moscow defeated Timberline. Lakeland then defeated Nezperce. Horseshoe Bend defeated Tri Valley and Prairie defeated Marsh Valley. That set up Prairie to play Moscow in which Prairie was defeated after a gallant effort on the court. Lakeland then beat Horseshoe Bend which set up the championship match between Moscow and Lakeland. Moscow proceeded to win the tournament.
It was a fun night of around the clock volleyball and we would like to thank Laney Forsmann and Trinity Martinez for putting on this tournament for their senior project.
We would also like to thank all the businesses that sponsored us…
Bell Equipment, Uhlenkott Well Drilling, Rieners’ Grocery, Schlader Photography, HUB International, Nuts for Storage, Livewire Electric, Latch Reality - Tanner Ross, Forsmann Accounting, Solberg Agency and Pacific Cabinets Inc.
If it wasn’t for our supportive community our sports programs would not be as successful as they are!!!! Thanks again sponsors and EVERYONE who volunteered and helped out. It was a great time. Lots of volleyball was played and lots of memories were made!
