Lady Pirates host Jamboree, finish third at New Plymouth
The Lady Pirates hosted an 8-team Jamboree on Tuesday, August 24 and wound up with the best record on the night in a full round robin. They also played at the New Plymouth Tournament on Saturday, August 28 and finished tied for third.
Jamboree
Prairie won 6 of their 7 games, beating Kendrick, C.V., Timberline, L:apwai, the Prairie JV and Kamiah while losing to Deary.
The Prairie JV team stepped in when Nezperce cancelled due to illness on their team and went 3-4 on the night against all varsity teams. They beat Timberline, Deary and C.V. and lost to Lapwai, Prairie varsity, Kamiah and Kendrick. They had some bragging rights against the varsity in that they had beaten the team that beat the varsity and when they played the varsity it was a close game won by the varsity 15-13 and the JV’s had a 12-9 lead late in the game.
Each matchup was a single game to 15 with rally scoring.
Prairie and Kamiah wound up playing each other in the final game of the night in what amounted to a championship match as both teams were 5-1 going into that match.
New Plymouth Tournament
There were 8 teams at the tournament in two pools of 4 teams.
In pool play they played 2 games to 25.
Prairie won both games against Payette. They also won both games against New Plymouth. They then lost both games against Horseshoe Bend to finish second in their pool.
In single elimination bracket play the second place team in 1 pool played the first place in the other with those two winners playing for the championship. They played best two out of 3. Prairie lost in 2 games to Cole Valley Christian while Potlatch lost to Horseshoe Bend.
That left Prairie and Potlatch tied for third place.
No game scores available.
