Harman resigns as Cottonwood mayor Pepper Harman resigned as Mayor of Cottonwood at the September meeting Tuesday, Sept. 14. He has moved outside the city limits and is therefore no longer eligible to be mayor. Council president Pat Holthaus presided over the meeting. Hallie Michels asked for a possible waiver of hall rental fees for yoga classes. The request to waive fees was declined. In unfinished business the council discussed the Idaho Building Code update. Holthaus said he would like to go through and compare what changes have been made. An airport lease for Clint Riener was approved. The council approved bad debt writeoffs. A liquor license was approved for The Hangout. Foregone Budget now needs to be done through the hearing process, which the city will proceed with. Appointment for the Mayor position was discussed at length with no action taken at this time. A banking resolution was passed to add Linda Nida to the accounts, at least until a new mayor is in place. The resignation of the hall cleaner/meter reader was accepted. For the time being the city crew will take care of the meter reading. They will advertise for a new hall cleaner. A law enforcement policy license agreement was approved. In the reports Holthaus reported they pumped 8,848, 300 gallons of water and sold 8,808, 182 gallons for a loss of only 0.25%. There was nothing to report at this time in the sewer department. Keith Holcomb reported the chip sealing is done and the crosswalks and other striping has also been done. Nida reported the fire department had 3 calls in the past month. The next regular meeting of the council is set for Tuesday October 12 at 7 p.m. due to the Monday holiday. A special meeting was held Thursday, Sept. 16. At that meeting the mayor position was discussed and tabled to the November meeting which will be after the election. Also at the special meeting the council approved several items having to deal with the grant application for the proposed park pavilion.
