Wemhoff finishes 10th at Potlatch
Matthew Wemhoff finished 10
th at the Potlatch Invite Cross Country meet held Saturday, Sept. 25 at Scenic 6 Park in Potlatch.
Wemhoff was Prairie’s top high school finisher in a time of 20:58.8. Following Wemhoff in the boys race were Kyle Schwartz, still nursing hamstring issues, in 35th at 23:55 and Morgan Poxleitner, coming off an illness, in 46th in 29:25.
Top finisher for the girls was Natalie Goeckner, who placed 14th in 27:51.3. Katteri Duman was 19th in 30:28.5 and Elizabeth Severns was 23rd in 31:42.4.
Prairie’s highest finisher on the day was Evelyn Gehring who placed 6th in the junior high girls race in 14:07.6. Olivia Uhlenkott was 19th in 15:35.4 and Alaina Lustig was 20th in 16:07.5.
Ben Secrest was a top 10 finisher in the junior high boys race as he finished 7th in a time of 13:10.2. Jackson Enneking was 22nd in 14:00.2. Chase VonBargen was 23rd in 14:49.1. Max Rehder was 26th in 15:30.8. Landon Riener was 29th in 16:47.6. Nate Forsmann was 33rd in 17:39.8 and Gabe Decaria was 37th in 18:50.7.
The junior high boys were the only Prairie group with enough runners to compete as a team as they finished in 3rd place out of 4 teams.
Coach Glenn Poxleitner said they are looking into moving the date for the Prairie Invite as it was discovered it is the same date as a home junior high football game. Poxleitner said he is looking at either Oct. 12 or Oct. 16.
Also the Nezperce Invite, which has been cancelled twice already, has been rescheduled for Oct. 5.
