at C.V. and Kamiah
The Pirates started against Kamiah and won 25-14, 25-22, 25-14 and then swept C.V. 25-9, 25-10, 25-16.
Trinity Martinez had 19 kills for the evening and Delanie Lockett had a huge night serving 37 for 38 with 11 aces and also had 14 kills. Kristin Wemhoff had 19 assists.
The JV team played both schools at the Clearwater Valley gym in Kooskia and won both of their matches.
Vs. Troy
The match against Troy started a lot better than the earlier matchup against the Trojans as Prairie scored the first 2 points on a kill by Laney Forsmann and an ace by Wemhoff. Josie Remacle makes a block against Troy as she and Kristin Wemhoff put up a wall.At Troy, Prairie was behind 0-17 before they got a chance to serve.
The Pirates played even with the Trojans until a kill by Lockett made it 7-7. Troy then scored the next 7 straight points until another kill by Lockett broke the run. Prairie scored only 3 more points in the game, all on sideouts. Wemhoff’s ace that made it 2-0 was Prairie’s only point scored while serving.
The second game was dominated by Troy as they jumped out to leads of 1-6, 4-11 and 7-17. Again Prairie was unable to score while serving until Tara Schlader served an ace that made it 11-23. Troy scored the next 2 points to take a 0 games to 2 lead.
Prairie scored first in the third game on a kill by Wemhoff but Troy tied it and then took a 3-6 lead.
The Trojans led several times by 4 points until a kill by Lockett sent Olivia Klapprich to the service line. An ace by Klapprich and a kill by Lockett cut the lead to 9-10. After trading missed serves, Lockett scored on a tip and Wemhoff followed with an ace to give Prairie a 12-11 lead. After a pair of sideouts, Trinity Martinez scored a kill for a 14-12 Prairie lead.
Prairie again led by 2 after another kill by Martinez that made it 15-13. Troy then took over the game by scoring the next 8 points to take a 15-21 lead and wound up winning the match.
For the match Lockett had 7 kills and 2 assists. Martinez had 6 kills. Schlader had 5 kills, 10 assists and 1 ace. Josie Remacle had 4 kills which included 2 blocks. Klapprich had 2 back row kills plus an ace. Wemhoff had 1 kill, 13 assists and 2 aces. Forsmann and Alli Geis each had 1 kill.
Prairie is now 10-3 overall and 9-3 in league play.
Prairie also got swept in the JV match 17-25, 17-25, 11-15.
Like the varsity match when Prairie was playing even with the Trojans early in the game it was a hot server for Troy that turned the match. This time Prairie had tied the score at 5-5 on a kill by Julia Rehder then Troy scored the side out and got 5 straight serving points for a 5-11 lead.
Prairie was able to cut the lead down to just 1 at 11-12 on an ace by Lexi Schumacher only to see Troy respond with 4 of the next 5 points for a 12-16 lead.
After a kill by Ember Martin cut the deficit to 2 at 17-19, Troy closed out the game with 6 straight points.
In the second game Isabella Walsh served Prairie to a 5-0 lead with 3 aces plus 2 kills by Riley Enneking. Prairie held the lead until a 1-13 run by the Trojans turned a 9-4 Prairie lead into a 10-17 deficit.
Prairie fought back with Schumacher making a serving run to cut the deficit back down to 1. She had 3 aces while Enneking and Taylor Riener each added a kill to make it 17-18 before Troy countered with a sideout kill. Troy then served out the game to clinch the match win.
In the third game Prairie led just once. Walsh scored a kill and Holli Schumacher served an ace for a 2-1 lead. Troy then scored 7 of the next 8 points for a 3-8 lead.
Prairie got it back down to 3 after an ace by Chloe Rowland made it 5-8 and cut it to 2 after a kill by Walsh and an ace by Aubree Rehder made it 7-9.
Troy then scored 4 straight and took a 9-14 lead. Prairie fought off game-point 3 times on a dig by Rowland, a tip by Holli Schumacher and an ace by Walsh before Troy scored the game-winning kill.
