Lady Patriots lose at Kendrick
The St. John Bosco Lady Patriots traveled to Kendrick and were swept 20-25, 17-25, 21-25 last Tuesday, Sept. 28.
On Monday, Oct. 4, they traveled to Council and lost, no scores available. This match was added late to help make up for the C.V. matches that got cancelled.
The Patriots played the Tigers tough in two of the three games but couldn’t put the game away at the finish.
In the opening game Bosco had leads of 8-3 and 10-5 early on as Julia Wassmuth, Noelle Chmelik and Jade Prigge each served up an ace and Dani Sonnen had a couple of kills.
Kendrick then came back to take an 11-12 lead but a pair of kills by Sarah Waters put the Patriots back on top. They led 18-16 after a kill by Rachel Sonnen but Kendrick then took over the game with 8 straight points to take an 18-24 lead before missing a serve. Rachel Sonnen served an ace to make it 20-24 before Kendrick scored the game-winning kill.
The second game saw the Patriots fall behind 1-6. They were able to rally within 2 at 8-10 Thanks to a couple of aces by Chmelik and a kill each by Waters and Makayla Rose. Kendrick then pulled away to a 6 points lead and after each side missed a serve, the Tigers put together and 0-6 run for a 12-23 lead.
Bosco got within 7 at 17-24 before giving up the game-winning point.
In the third game Bosco took their first lead at 3-2 on a kill by Prigge. They led 6-3 after 2 aces by Waters but Kendrick answered with a 1-4 run to take back the lead.
A kill each by Rachel Sonnen and Dani Sonnen plus 2 aces by Prigge made it 11-8 but Kendrick again quickly erased the deficit.
After a kill to the corner by Raylie Warren made it 18-16, Kendrick took control of the game. They scored the next 5 points before Wassmuth scored on a tip to make it 19-21. Kendrick finished off the match outscoring Bosco 2-4 the rest of the way.
Dani Sonnen had 7 kills and an ace. Prigge had 6 kills, 1 assist and 4 aces. Waters had 4 kills and 3 aces. Rachel Sonnen had 2 kills and 2 aces. Warren had 2 kills and 1 assist. Wassmuth had 1 kill, 8 assists and 2 aces. Rose had 1 kill. Chmelik had 13 assists and 4 aces.
