Lady Pirates lose at Potlatch
On Tuesday, Oct. 5, the Lady Pirates traveled to Potlatch and for the second time this season, were swept in 3 games by the Loggers. Scores this time were 17-25, 19-25, 17-25.
Potlatch pretty much dominated the action all evening as Prairie led at only 1 point in the entire match, at 6-5 in the third game. Mackenzie Key goes for a spike at Potlatch. Also shown are Tara Schlader and Alli Geis.
The first game saw Prairie fall behind 0-3, 1-5, 3-10 and 5-14.
They got back within 5 at 15-20 after an ace by Laney Forsmann and again at 17-22 after a kill by Trinity Martinez and an ace by Tara Schlader. Potlatch then scored the final 3 points.
In the second game Prairie fell behind 0-6 then got back within 3-6 after a kill by Schlader and an ace by Kristin Wemhoff. However Potlatch scored the next 7 straight points for a 10-point lead.
Prairie managed to cut the deficit to 3 points as Alli Geis had a good serving run. A carry violation by Potlatch put her on the serving line at 6-14. A kill by Schlader, 2 aces, a kill by Martinez and another ace by Geis made it 11-14 before Geis just missed wide on a serve.
Prairie twice more got within 3 at 13-16 on an ace by Schlader and 14-17 on a kill by Wemhoff. A 0-6 run by Potlatch then put the Loggers in control as they wound up winning by 6.
In the third game Potlatch took a 0-4 lead then Prairie scored 3 straight. Wemhoff scored a kill then with Mackenzie Key serving, Geis scored a first touch kill at the net and Key served an ace to make it 3-4.
After a sideout, Martinez scored a kill and Josie Remacle scored on a block with Geis serving. An ace by Geis gave Prairie their only lead of the night at 6-5.
Potlatch then answered with 6 straight points to take the lead for good. The Loggers led by as many as 10 at 10-20 before winning by 8.
Martinez had 7 kills and an ace for the Pirates. Wemhoff had 5 kills, 9 assists and 2 aces. Schlader had 4 kills, 13 assists and 2 aces. Geis had 4 kills and 4 aces. Remacle had 3 kills including 2 blocks. Key had 2 kills, an assist and 2 aces. Klapprich had 1 kill, 1 assist and 2 aces. Forsmann had 1 kill and 1 ace. Delanie Lockett had 1 kill.
Prairie is now 10-4 overall and 9-4 in league play.
In the JV match Prairie pulled out a win over the Loggers 25-20, 19-25, 15-10.
Isabella Walsh served Prairie to a 5-0 lead in the first game with 3 aces with Taylor Riener collecting a kill. The other point came on a Potlatch violation. After a sideout, Tamden Pecarovich scored a sideout kill that sent Riley Enneking to the service line. She had 3 aces, Julia Rehder scored a kill then Enneking had another ace for an 11-1 lead.
Potlatch got back in the game with a 0-6 run to cut the lead to 11-7 and eventually got within 2 at 14-12 and again at 16-14. A missed serve sent Lexi Schumacher to the service line for 2 aces to make it 19-14.
Potlatch again got within 2 at 20-18 for missing another serve. A kill by Ember Martin, an ace by Enneking and a kill by Walsh made it 24-18. Potlatch fought off 2 game points before Martin scored the game-winning kill.
In the second game Prairie scored first on a kill by Walsh but then didn’t lead again until 3 aces in a row by Lexi Schumacher made it 12-11. Potlatch answered with 6 straight points.
Prairie got back within 2 at 18-20 after two aces by Riener but Potlatch outscored Prairie 1-5 the rest of the game to win by 6.
In the third game Prairie trailed only once at 2-3 then Walsh scored a kill, Riener a block and Holli Schumacher a kill for a 5-3 lead. Potlatch tied it at 5-5 and again at 6-6 and 8-8 but never regained the lead.
A kill by Enneking put Priarie in the lead for good. Riener followed with an ace and Enneking another kill for an 11-8 lead. After 3 straight sideouts the score stood at 12-10. Enneking made it 4 straight sideouts with a kill then went back to serve. Rehder scored a first touch kill at the net and Pecarovich scored the match winning kill.
The C team lost both of their games, no scores available.
