Lady Patriots pick up first win
The St. John Bosco Lady Patriots won 1 of 3 league games this past week. On Tuesday, Jan. 11, they lost at Nezperce 26-44. On Thursday, Jan. 13 they lost at Kendrick 17-58. Finally on Friday, Jan. 14, they picked up their first win of the season when the beat Highland 46-24 at Cottonwood.
At Nezperce
The Lady Patriots led Nezperce after one quarter 10-9 but the rest of the game belonged to the Nighthawks who took a 14-22 lead by halftime and extended it to 19-33 after 3 quarters before outscoring the Patriots 7-11 in the fourth quarter to win by 18.
Jade Prigge led the Patriots in scoring with 9 points with Julia Wassmuth scoring 6, Sarah Waters 5, Raylie Warren 4 and Dani Sonnen 2.

At Kendrick
The game at Kendrick was a mismatch from the start as the league leading Tigers took a 6-17 lead by the end of the first quarter and stretched it to 9-33 by halftime. After 3 quarters it was 12-51.
Dani Sonnen led the Patriots in scoring with 9 points. Wassmuth scored 3. Prigge and Noelle Chmelik scored 2 each and Warren scored 1.

Vs. Highland
The Lady Patriots picked up their first win of the season as they beat Highland 46-24. It was the first win for the girls program since a District win over Deary on Feb. 6, 2020. They did not have a team for the 2020-21 season.
The Patriots took a 12-4 lead after one quarter and led 22-12 at the half. They extended the lead in the third quarter by outscoring the Huskies 15-2 to take a 37-14 lead into the fourth quarter. The Huskies outscored the Patriots 8-10 in the fourth.
Prigge led the team with 16 points and 14 rebounds. Every player for the Patriots scored. Wassmuth and Dani Sonnen each scored 9 points. Chmelik and Waters scored 4 each while Warren and Rachel Sonnen scored 2 each.
The Lady Patriots are now 1-7 overall and 1-4 in league play.

Patriots win 1 of 3
The St. John Bosco boys basketball team won 1 of 3 league games this past week.

On Tuesday, Jan. 11 they won 62-43 at Nezperce. On Thursday, Jan. 13, they lost a close game at Kendrick 57-60. Finally on Friday, Jan. 14, they lost to Highland 44-52 at Cottonwood.
At Nezperce
In the game at Nezperce the Patriots jumped out to a 21-11 lead by the end of the first quarter and led 30-18 at the half.
They pulled away in the third quarter to take a 46-27 lead into the final period. Each team scored 16 in the fourth quarter.
Clay Weckman had a big game for the Patriots with 31 points. Cody Wassmuth and Torry Chmelik were also in double figures with 15 and 12 points respectively. Luke Stubbers and Stallone Hoene each scored 2 points.
Weckman had the Patriots only 3-point field goal.

At Kendrick
At Kendrick the Tigers gained a season split with the Patriots.
Kendrick led 17-19 after one quarter and 26-34 at the half. Each team scored 19 in the third quarter as Kendrick took a 45-53 lead into the fourth quarter. The Patriots fourth quarter rally came up short as they outscored the Tigers 12-7 in the final frame.
Weckman again led the scoring with 29 points while Cody Wassmuth added 11. Stubbers and Dustin Kaschmitter each scored 6 points. Chmelik scored 3 and Hoene scored 2.
Weckman had four 3-pointers in the game while Wassmuth had 1.
Kendrick was led by Jagger Hewett with 22. He did not play when the Patriots beat the Tigers at Cottonwood.

Vs. Highland
In a game rescheduled from Dec. 14, the Patriots were beaten by Highland.
The Huskies led just 12-13 after one quarter but took a 30-21 lead by halftime.
The Patriots rallied in the third quarter, cutting the deficit to just 2 points at 32-34 but Highland pulled away to win by 8 in the fourth quarter.
Chmelik was the leading scorer against the Huskies with 15 points with Weckman adding 11 and Cody Wassmuth 10. Stubbers and Kaschmitter scored 4 points each.
Wassmuth had a pair of 3-pointers while Chmelik and Weckman had 1 each.
The Patriots are now 5-5 overall and 3-3 in league play.
