Girls District Tournaments start this week
The White Pine League Girls District Basketball Tournaments get underway this week.
The Division 1 tournament starts Thursday, Feb. 3 with 4 games all played at 6 p.m. at the home gyms of the higher seeds.
Prairie will be the #1 seed thanks to a tiebreaker with Lapwai as they finished tied for first in the league standings. Prairie will host Genesee at 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 3 at the PHS gym.
Win or lose they will play again on Saturday at PHS at 6 p.m. against an opponent determined by the #4 Troy vs. #5 Potlatch game.
If Prairie wins both Thursday and Saturday, they will clinch a trip to State and play in the District Championship game.
On Monday, Feb. 7, there will be a pair of loser out games at Lewiston High School at 6:30 and 8 p.m.
Monday’s winners will play Tuesday, Feb. 8 at 7 p.m. at Lewiston High School for third place. That winner will play the District 1 champion on Saturday, Feb. 12 at 1 p.m. in Coeur d’Alene.
The District Championship game will be Thursday, Feb. 10 at 7 p.m. at Lewiston High School.
The Division 2 tournaments starts Friday, Feb. 4 with a pair of loser out games. It appears that St. John Bosco play Highland while Nezperce will host Timberline. Both games will be at 6 p.m. The St. John Bosco-Highland game might be played at Craigmont even though the Lady Patriots will be the higher seed.
Friday’s winners will play Saturday with the lowest remaining seed traveling to Kendrick and the other team traveling to Deary. Both of those games will be at 6 p.m.
Saturday’s winners will play in the District Championship game Wednesday, Feb. 9 at Lewiston High School at 6 p.m.
Saturday’s losers will play at the higher seed’s gym on Tuesday, Feb. 8 at 6 p.m. The winner of that game will play the championship game loser on Thursday, Feb. 10 at the higher seed’s gym at 6 p.m. That winner advances to a state play-in game against the District 1 champion at 3 p.m. Saturday Feb. 12 in Coeur d’Alene.
