Highland ends Patriots season
The St. John Bosco Patriots had a short stay in the District tournament as they lost 44-50 in overtime to the Highland Huskies at Craigmont Friday, Feb. 18 in a loser out game.
It was primarily too much Ty Hambley as the Highland player scored 40 of Highland’s 50 points, 32 in the second half.
The Patriots led most of the first half as they led 9-4 after one quarter and 23-16 at the half.
Hambley then got hot in the third quarter as the Huskies outscored the Patriots 6-18 to take a 29-34 lead into the fourth quarter.
The Patriots rallied in the fourth to take the game to over time but then were outscored 3-9 in the extra frame.
Torry Chmelik led the Patriots in scoring with 17 points with Clay Weckman adding 10, Levi Wassmuth 9 and Cody Wassmuth 8.
Weckman had a pair of 3-pointers in the game while Chmelik and Cody Wassmuth each had 1.
In an overtime you can always look at free throws as being the difference and the Patriots struggled at the line, making just 8 of 24 attempts.
The Patriots end their season with a record of 8-8.
