May events for Tri-Parish Youth
Dear Youth in Christ,
As the weather warms up and the school days come to a close, we ask you to consider joining us our end of the school year activities. As a young Church we will celebrate this special month through praise, prayer, play, worship, planning, food, and learning.  It is here we challenge you to become a disciple and live out your call as servants, witnesses, and leaders.
On May 4th we will not have youth group because I will be attending my grandson’s concert in Kamiah.
On May 7th I am inviting everyone to come and support the Hope Pregnancy Center in the “Walk for Life” at St. Peter and Paul.  We will be going over as a youth group so you will need permission slips to attend.  I have placed some in the file holder on the front porch of the parish office.  They are also available at St. John Bosco and the High School PFFP.  I know this is a very busy weekend with prom and track meets, so if you cannot walk, I am still encouraging a donation of $30.00 for this event.  Your donation is important and will help support the Hope Pregnancy Center in Grangeville and Kamiah and all they do to promote the beauty and sanctity  of life!  You can make your donations by contacting Debbie or by dropping it off in the donation box located at the entrance of each of the Churches!  For those walking, we will be meeting at the St. Mary’s Church parking lot at 7:45 a.m. We should be finished by 12:00 p.m. and home by 12:30 p.m. Please remember to bring your forms and donations on Saturday.  I can’t wait to join in this worthwhile cause!
We will have our final Junior High Faith Night on May 11th at the OMG.  We will begin the night with food at 6:30 and our session will begin at 7:00.  All Jr. High Youth are invited and encouraged to attend!
Our Graduation Mass for Prairie High School and St. John Bosco will take place at St. Anthony’s Church on May 15th at 10:30 a.m. I am asking all Seniors to arrive at 10:00 a.m. to line up.  Also, if you are applying for the PFFP or Youth Ministry Scholarship, your application is due to Debbie by May 9th.  Graduates, please wear your caps and gowns to the Mass.  We will have a reception immediately following the Mass in the Greencreek Hall hosted by the women of Saint Anthony Altar Society. Thank you so much for your support and love for our graduates!
On May 18th I am asking all High School youth to meet at the Habit at 7:00 for a night of fellowship and prayer for our Seniors as they prepare for their next step in life!  We will have snacks and coffee will be provided.  Let’s make this a special night for all seniors and anyone else who may be leaving.  Goodbyes are always hard, but remember you will always be with us through our shared memories and experiences, and we have had a lot of those!!
Many of our local athletes will be participating in the 1st annual “Athletes for Christ” fundraiser basketball game at Lapwai on May 22nd.  We will have a boys and girls team playing in this event.  Our day will begin with Mass at 11:45 a.m. followed by food and a social for the youth.  The basketball games will begin for the girls at 2:30 and the boys at 4:00 p.m.  Because this event is hosted by Youth Ministry, I will need to drive the youth to Lapwai.  I will need other adult drivers to help.  So, if you can help me with this, please let me know as soon as possible.  Parents are encouraged to come and watch the games.  Admission to the game will be donation and their will be a silent auction and concessions and baked food available to purchase.  All of the proceeds go to help replace the roof on the Lapwai Catholic Church.  For all of the youth attending, we will meet in the St. Mary’s Church parking lot at 10:30 a.m.
On May 25th we will have our “End of School” Bash at St. Mary’s Church!  We will begin at 6:30 with hamburgers and hotdogs.  Our fun and games will begin at 7:15. The night will end with gathering around the fire pit making s’mores.  Everyone is invited to this great night of fun as we close the school year with hearts full of fun and thanksgiving to our amazing God!
If you are planning to participate in the Stanley Retreat on June 13-16th you will need to pick up forms from Debbie or the file holder at the Church office.  These forms and payment need to be returned to Debbie or the parish office by June 2nd.  Please don’t be late!
Have a beautiful and blessed month!  Mary Queen of Peace pray for us!
In Christ’s Peace,
Debbie
