Pirates compete at two meets
The Prairie Track Team competed at a pair of meets this past week. On Tuesday, May 3, they were at Kamiah then on Thursday, May 5, some of them were at the Meet of Champions in Lewiston.
Kamiah Meet
Prairie athletes won 9 events at the 8-school Kamiah meet.
For the girls Kristin Wemhoff was part of 4 of the 6 winning events. She won the 100 in 13.23, the 200 in 26.79 and the 400 in 1:02.15 while anchoring the 4x100 relay to a win in 54.31. Relay teammates were Alli Geis, Julia Rehder and Aubree Rehder.
Olivia Klapprich won the long jump with a mark of 13’6¾”. She was also 5th in the pole vault at 6’6” and 10th in the 200 in 33.15.
Also the medley relay team of Ashlyn North, Klapprich, Rebecca Seubert and Holli Schumacher won with a time oof 2:18.49.
For the boys, Zach Rambo won the 100 In 11.84, the 200 in 23.87and was 2nd in the long jump at 18’3½”. He also anchored the winning 4x100 relay team, which had a time of 46.52. Teammates were Jesse Cronan, T.J. Hibbard and Noah Geis.
Other girls results:
Julia Rehder was 2nd in the long jump at 12’11½” and 3rd in the 200 in 29.79.
Schumacher was 3rd in the pole vault at 6’6” (fewer misses than Klapprich) and 16th in the 100 in 16.17. Klapprich and Schumacher had been competing in the pole vault at several meets but this meet was the first time they had cleared opening height.
Sarah Lustig was 3rd in the discus at 85’0” and 8th in the shot put at 21’3½”.
Geis was 5th in the 100 in 14.58.
Aubree Rehder was 5th in the 200 in 31.43 and 11th in the long jump at 10’7”.
Elizabeth Severns was 5th in the discus at 80’9” and 6th in in the shot put at 24’11”.
Morgan Pack was 5th in the 400 at 1:23.4, 13th in the 200 in 40.36 and 19th in the 100 in 18.58.
Harlee Brannan was 7th in the long jump at 11’11½”, 9th in the discus at 68’0” and 11th in the short put at 19’4”.
Ashlyn North was 8th in the 100 hurdles in 21.44 and 11th in the 100 in 15.72.
Rebecca Seubert was 9th in the 100 hurdles in 22.12 and 9th in the long jump at 11’6½”.
Meghan Fowler was 12th in the discus at 64’0” and 13th in the shot put at 18’4½”.
The 4x200 relay of Geis, Aubree Rehder, Julia Rehder and Seubert was 2nd in 1:57.10.
As a team the girls placed 3rd with 121 points.
Other boys results:
Hibbard placed 2nd in the discus at 126’1” and 5th in the shot put at 39’7”.
Geis placed 2nd in the 400 in 55.69, 3rd in the 100 in 12.47 and 18th in the discus at 80’9”.
Jesse Cronan placed 3rd in the long jump at 18’1¼”, 6th in the 100 in 12.79 and 6th in the discus at 117’1”.
Briggs Rambo placed 3rd in the 300 hurdles in 54.48, 4th in the 100 hurdles in 23.38 and 15th in the long jump at 13’6½”.
Shane Hanson placed 4th in the discus at 125’6”, 5th in the high jump at 5’0” and 9th in the 100 in 13.04.
Matt Wemhoff placed 5th in the 200 in 27.25, 6th in the pole vault at 8’0” and 8th in the long jump at 16’1½”. It is the first time Prairie has had a boy competing in the pole vault in many, many years.
Bennie Elven placed 5th in the 400 in 1:02.41, 8th in the discus at 115’2” and 14th in the 100 in 13.43.
Brodie Hasselstrom placed 5th in the discus at 121’1” and 9th in the shot put at 36’1½”.
Zane Uptmor placed 6th in the 400 in 1:03.62, 7th in the 200 in 28.28 and 15th in the discus at 96’6”.
Drake Cronan placed 8th in the 400 in 1:05.66, 8th in the 200 in 28.45, 15th in the 100 I 13.72 and 19th in the discus at 70’2”.
Lee Forsmann placed 12th in the discus at 109’9” and 12th in the 100 in 13.39.
As a team the boys placed 2nd with 126 points.
Meet of Champions
The girls 4x200 relay team of Geis, Aubree Rehder, Julia Rehder and Wemhoff took first place at the Meet of Champions with a time of 1:52.87.
Wemhoff also placed 2nd in both the 200 in 26.75 and the 400 in a personal best of 59.63 which is only 0.6 off of the school record set by Carrie Riener in 1977.
Top finishers for the boys team were Zach Rambo with a 3rd in the 200 at 23.35 and Shane Hanson with a third in the discus at 137’½”.
Rambo was also 4th in the 400 in 52.79 and 6th in the long jump at 18’6”.
Other girls results:
Lustig placed 6th in the discus at 84’3” an Severns was 7th in the event at 84’0”.
Julia Rehder was 7th in the long jum pa t 13’11”.
The medley team of Seubert, Aubree Rehder, Julia Rehder and Geis was 2nd in 2:02.24 and would likely have finished first if Geis wasn’t battling shin splints.
The 4x100 tam of Geis, Julia Rehder, Aubree Rehder and Seubert placed 5th in 55.88.
As a team the girls placed 6th with 45 poiints.

Jesse Cronan was 5th in the discus at 124’8½”, 15th in the long jump at 17’3” and 24th in the 100 in 12.56.
Forsmann was 9th in the discus at 119’7½”.
Hasselstrom was 10th in the shot at 36’7½” and 10th in the discus at 117’7”.
Hibbard was 11th in the discus at 116’6”.
Geis was 14th in the 400 in 56.22.
Elven was 15th in the discus at 107’4½”.
The 4x100 relay of Jesse Cronan, Hibbard, Geis and Zach Rambo was 3rd in 46.21.
The 4x200 relay of Elven, Forsmann, Wemhoff and Geis as 6th in 1:43.28.
As a team the boys placed 6th with 34 points.

Kristin Wemhoff took 2nd in the 400 meter dash and broke the 1:00 barrier. He 59.63 time is within 0.6 of the school record.


Elven breaks own discus record
The Prairie Jr. High Track team competed at a couple of meets this past week. On Wednesday, May 4, they were at the Bulldog Invite at Grangeville. On Saturday, May 7, they were at the KMS Invite at Kamiah.
Bulldog Invite
At the Bulldog Invite at Grangeville the girls team had 6 individual winners and also won all 4 relays while the boys team had 2 individual winners and won 1 relay.
Girls results:
Lacey Schwartz won the 200 in 30.0 and the 400 in 1:10.8 and was second in the 100 in 14.5.
Sage Elven won the shot put at 37’10½” and the discus at 101’3” and was 7th in the 200 in 32.5.
Callie Remacle won the high jump at 4’8” and was third in the 75 meter hurdles in 14.1, 4th in the 200 hurdles in 35.7 and 9th in the 200 in 32.8.
Evelyn Gehring won the 800 in 2:54.6 and was 9th in the 2090 hurdles in 39.7.
The 4x100 team of Erica Schlader, Kennedy Riener, Lillian Rehder and Nadia Cash won in 58.1.
The 4x200 team of Avery Riener, Breanne Schwartz, Lacey Schwartz and Sydney Shears won in 2:04.5.
The 4x400 team of Kylee Riggers, Lillian Rehder, Hailey Hanson and Evelyn Gehring won in 5:18.2.
The medley team of Avery Riener, Kennedy Riener, Breanne Schwartz and Shears won in 2:13.0.

Elven broke her own school record in the discus at the KMS Invite on Saturday, winning with a mark of 108’7”. She also won the shot put with a mark of 34’7” and was 15th in the 200 at 33.36.
Also winning for the girls team was Shears in the high jump at 4’8”. She was also 8th in the 100 at 14.71.
The girls again won all 4 relays. The 4x100 team of Schlader, Kennedy Riener, Rehder and Cash won in 57.80. The 4x200 team of Avery Riener, Breanna Schwartz, Lacey Schwartz and Sierra Oliver won in 2:01.07. The 4x400 team of Riggers, Rehder, Uhlenkott and Gehring won in 5:08.67. The medley team of Avery Riener, Breanne Schwartz, Kennedy Riener and Shears won in 2:09.70.
For the boys team the medley relay team of Enneking, Martin, Vonbargen and Secrest won in a time of 2:00.30.
