Lady Pirates season ends
The Prairie Lady Pirates softball season came to an abrupt end last Tuesday, May 10, as they lost 2-6 to Genesee at Kendrick in a District play-in game.
Prairie took an early lead as they scored twice in the first inning but it turned out that those would be their only runs of the game.
Prairie had Genesee shut out until the top of the fourth inning when the Bulldogs scored 3 runs to take the lead.
Genesee added 2 more in the fifth and an insurance run in the seventh.
Mackenzie Key started in the circle for Prairie and had Genesee shut out through 3 innings. She ran into trouble in the fourth with Tara Schlader taking over. Schlader wound up with the loss as she gave up the go-ahead run.
Prairie had 5 hits in the game, all singles. Delanie Lockett had 2 singles while Laney Forsmann, Kaylie Lockett and Gracie Farr each had a single.
Prairie ends their season with a final record of 9-10.
