33 turn out for Prairie Volleyball
Prairie has a huge turnout for volleyball this season with 33 players.
Head coach Julie Schumacher has broken them out to 9 on varsity, 10 on JV and 14 on the C team.
Joining her as coaches this year are new JV coach Erika Shears and coming back to the squad after taking a few years off is Marlene Forsmann as the C coach.
Prairie was set to host a preseason Jamboree next Tuesday, August 23, but that has been called off due to a situation with the gym floor refinishing.
The gym floors are going to be done Aug. 17-19 instead of back in June like originally scheduled. With the floors being done this week, the volleyball team will lose 3 days of practice and after practicing Tuesday morning, won’t practice again until Monday. Also due to the gym floors being done this week, it was felt best to cancel the Jamboree as the finish needs to cure for a few days.
Players on the varsity this year are: Tara Schlader, Kristin Wemhoff, Riley Enneking, Julia Rehder, Chloe Rowland and Holli Schumacher, all seniors; Alli Geis and Taylor Riener, both juniors and Lexi Schumacher, a sophomore.
On the JV team are Ember Martin, a junior; Kaylie Lockett, Ashlyn North, Aubree Rehder, Ellie Nuxoll and Tamden Pecarovich, sophomores; and Kylie Schumacher, Hailey Hanson, Sydney Shears and Sierra Oliver, freshmen.
Making up the C team are Miranda Klapprich and Chayla Christopher, both juniors; Harlee Brannan, Rebecca Seubert, Morgan Pack, Clarise Rehder and Grace Uhlenkott, sophomores; and Katelyn Riener, Avery Riener, Bailey Key, August Warden, Breanne Schwartz and Lacey Schwartz, freshmen.
With the Jamboree cancelled, Prairie’s first action will take place on Saturday, August. 27 when the varsity team travels to New Plymouth for a tournament and the JV and C teams travel to Genesee for a JV tournament.

Alli Geis serves as Kristin Wemhoff awaits her turn at the service line.
