Cross Country team hosts meet
The Prairie Cross Country team hosted a meet Saturday, Sept. 17 at the Football & Track Complex.
There were 5 schools in attendance for the high school meet and 3 for the junior high meet.
There were also several Grangeville runners competing that were wearing Prairie red uniforms as opposed to the predominantly black with red highlights uniforms that Prairie athletes wore.
Natalie Goeckner finished third in the high school girls race in 26:58 to earn a medal. Elizabeth Severns finished 8th in 29:56 and Miranda Klapprich was 12th in 34:31.
The Grangeville girls competing in red Prairie uniforms included overall winner, Kylie Rasmussen who had a time of 25:27. Other Grangeville runners competing for Prairie were Kacee Evans, 6th in 27:44, Kassi Miller, 10th in 30:28 and Breanna Spencer, 14th in 35:24.
We also know that Aubree Geis was second in the junior high girls race in 12:40 and Evelyn Gehring was third in 12:41. Both were awarded medals. Avery Kehler, in her first ever race, finished 4th in 14:13.
Ben Secrest was Prairie’s top boys finisher in the high school race placing 11th in 21:52. Jackson Enneking was 12th in 21:56. Morgan Poxleitner was 22nd in 24:49. Max Rehder was 25th in 26:01. Zane Uptmor was 27th in 26:21 and Landon Riener was 29th in 27:52.
Running for Prairie from Grangeville were Ryan Detweiler, 3rd in 19:45 and earning a medal. A.J. Rose was 5th in 20:38; Simeon Sanchez, 6th in 20:42; Gabe Bybee, 15th in 22:44, Ayden Arnett, 17th in 23:36 and Parker Farmer was 24th in 25:50.
The junior high boys were led by Matthew Jones who placed 5th in 12:12. Kade Hanson was 6th in 13:43. Gabe Decaria was 10th in 15:46 and George Villamor was 11th in 16:56.

Prairie Cross Country at Eagle Island State Park
The Prairie Cross Country team will be competing at the Bob Firman Invitational at Eagle Island State Park this Saturday, Sept. 24.

For competition level purposes the Pirates have been entered into the JV races which have been split into two races each due to the number of schools in attendance.
The high school boys team will race in the JV Section 2, schools M-Z race which starts at 2:35 MDT.
The high school girls team will also race in the JV Section 2, schools M-Z race which starts at 3:50 p.m. MDT.
There are also junior high races at this meet but they are scheduled for Friday evening so Prairie won’t be attending.
