Cross Country team competes at two meets
The Prairie Cross Country team competed at a pair of meets last week. On Wednesday, Sept. 21 they were at Deyo Reservoir for the Spartan Invite. On Saturday, Sept. 24, they were at Eagle Island State Park for the Bob Firman Invitational.
Spartan Invite
The Spartan Invite was held at Deyo Reservoir on Wednesday, Sept. 21.
The Prairie/Grangeville boys team took first in the team competition.
Top Prairie runner was Chase VonBargen who placed 6th in 21:27 and earned a medal. Secrest was 13th in 22:28. Enneking was 20th in 23:42. Poxleitner was 25th in 24:59. Dylan Klapprich was 33rd in 27:43. Riener was 34th in 29:07.
The Grangeville athletes running for Prairie were Ryan Detweiler, 3rd in 19:49; A.J. Rose, 4th in 20:43; Simeon Sanchez, 5th in 21:05; Gabe Bybee, 14th in 22:37; Ayden Arnett, 23rd in 24:42 and Parker Farmer, 24th in 24:56.
Both Goeckner and Severns earned medals in the girls high school race as the top 10 finishers all received medals. Goeckner was 6th in 26:55 and Severns was 9th in 30:06.
Grangeville athletes running for Prairie were Kylie Rasmussen, 3rd in 26:36, and Kacee Evans, 5th in 26:54.
All of Prairie’s junior high boys runners were awarded medals. In the boys race Jones was 3rd in 14:10. Hanson was 6th in 15:01. Decaria was 7th in 17:25 and Villamor was 8th in 18:35.
In the girls race Gehring was 8th in 15:03. Olivia Uhlenkott, in her first race of the season, was 9th in 15:09. Kehler was 11th in 15:30. Gehring and Uhlenkott each were awarded medals.
Bob Firman Invitational
The Bob Firman Invitational held at Eagle Island State Park near Eagle, Idaho, was a huge meet with over 4200 competitors.
Prairie ran in the JV races which had enough competitors they split them into two races each.
The boys race Prairie was in had 341 runners and 26 teams. Prairie placed 22nd as a team.
VonBargen was the Pirates top finisher placing 145th in 20:34.7. Enneking was 198th in 21:35.0. Secrest was 226th in 22:00.2. Poxleitner was 282nd in 23:21.3. Klapprich was 300th in 26:07.6. Uptmor was 327th in 26:07.6. Riener was 328th in 26:34.0.
In the girls race there were 164 runners. Goeckner was 78th in 26:17.1. Severns was 133rd in 29:25.9 and Callie Remacle was 144th in 30:51.0.

Cousins Olivia Uhlenkott and Evelyn Gehring each earned medals in the girls junior high race at the Spartan Invite.
