Lady Pirates win 3
The Prairie Lady Pirates won 3 home games this past week, two of them league games.
On Tuesday, Nov. 28, they knocked off Clearwater Valley 76-23. On Friday, Dec. 2, they defeated Grangeville as part of the Idaho County Shootout 56-21. Finally on Saturday, Dec. 3, they defeated Logos 90-25.
Vs. C.V.
Prairie raced out to a 15-0 lead at the start of the game against C.V. Lexi Schumacher, Kristin Wemhoff and Tara Schlader each scored a basket. Schumacher then hit a 3-pointerKristin Wemhoff scores against C.V.. Kylie Schumacher made 2 free throws. Schlader scored again and Kylie Schumacher scored a putback to make it 15-0 with 4:01 left in the opening quarter.
C.V. then put together a 1-5 run but Prairie then answered with 9 straight points to make it 25-5. Schlader started the run with a basket inside. Wemhoff then hit a 3-pointer. Kylie Schumacher scored a lay-up and Wemhoff scored following a steal by Schlader. C.V. then scored to make it 25-7 at the end of the first quarter.
Prairie kept up the onslaught in the second quarter as they outscored the Rams 19-7. Schlader scored twice to open the quarter. After a C.V. basket, Sage Elven scored on a putback. After another C.V. basket, Wemhoff scored a lay-up and 2 free throws and Lexi Schumacher added a basket for a 37-11 lead.
After another C.V. basket Prairie had a 7-0 run to go up 44-13. Schlader, Riley Enneking and Schlader again scored baskets then Lexi Schumacher added a free throw. C.V. scored a free throw to make it 44-14 at the half.
Lexi Schumacher started the second half score with a lay-up after a steal by Wemhoff. C.V. then scored a 3-pointer that was answered by two 3-pointers by Prairie, one each by Lexi Schumacher and Wemhoff. Those baskets kicked of a 14-0 run by the Pirates. Wemhoff made 2 free throws. Kylie Schumacher scored on a drive. Wemhoff then scored 2 baskets to give Prairie a 60-17 lead.
C.V. scored on a 3 and a 2 but Prairie closed the quarter on a basket each by Schlader and Wemhoff that made it 64-22.
Prairie opened the running clock fourth quarter 10 straight points completing another 14-0 run. Lexi Schumacher hit a 3-pointer then Hailey Hanson converted 3 free throws after being fouled on a 3-point attempt.  A basket each by Wemhoff and Elven made it 74-22. C.V. added a free throw and Elven a basket for the final points of the game.
Wemhoff led the scoring with 25 points and added 10 steals, 8 assists and 5 rebounds. Where Wemhoff just missed a triple-double, Schlader achieved one with 16 points, 10 rebounds and 10 steals. She also had 6 assists. Lexi Schumacher also scored 16 points with 5 steals while Kylie Schumacher scored 8 points. Elven scored 6 while Hanson scored 3 and Enneking scored 2.
Prairie outrebounded C.V. 39-28 and were led by Schlader’s 10.
Prairie was 30 for 59 shooting the ball, 51%, and 11 for 17 at the line, 65%. C.V. was 9 for 40 from the field, 23%, and 3 for 9 at the line, 33%.
Prairie had 34 steals as a team out of C.V.’s 39 turnovers. Prairie had 20 turnovers.

Vs. Grangeville
Prairie jumped out to an 11-2 lead in the Idaho County Shootout game against Grangeville. Wemhoff and Kylie Schumacher each scored with a Schlader steal setting up Wemhoff’s basket and Schlader picking up the assist on Schumacher’s. Wemhoff added a free throw for a 5-0 lead. After a Grangeville basket, Hailey Hanson made a pair of free throws. Wemhoff then hit 2 of 4 free throw attempts before adding a basket for an 11-2 lead.

After a Grangeville free throw, Schlader scored a basket and Alli Geis scored a free throw. Wemhoff then hit a lay-up at the buzzer to make it 20-9.
Hanson scored a basket to start the second quarter and Wemhoff added 2 free throws to make it 24-9. Grangeville got back within 26-13 before Schlader scored to make it 28-13 with 4:18 left in the half. Both offenses then went ice-cold as that is where the score stood at halftime.
Prairie opened the second half with 6 straight points. Kylie Schumacher scored a putback then both Schlader and Kylie Schumacher scored lay-ups on inbounds feeds from Wemhoff. Grangeville broke the nearly 9 minute scoring drought with 2 free throws but Wemhoff answered with a drive to the hoop.
Two Grangeville baskets made it 36-19 but Prairie closed the third quarter with 6 straight points. Enneking made 2 free throws. Schlader scored on another inbounds pass from Wemhoff and Kylie Schumacher scored on a putback to make it 42-19 after 3 quarters.
Prairie then scored the first 14 points of the fourth quarter to make it a 20-0 run. Schlader, Wemhoff and Kylie Schumacher each scored. Enneking then scored to make the lead 50-19 and turn on the running clock with 2:27 left to play.  Wemhoff then scored 3 straight baskets to make it a 56-19 lead before Grangeville broke another 9 minute scoring drought with 2 free throws.
Wemhoff wound up leading all scorers with 25 points. She added 13 rebounds for a double-double and had 6 steals and 6 assists. Schlader also had a double-double with 10 points and 14 rebounds along with a team-high 7 steals. Kylie Schumacher scored 10 points and added 9 rebounds. Hanson and Enneking each scored 4 points and Geis scored 3.
Prairie outrebounded Grangeville 50-32.
The Pirates hit 22 of 71 shots from the field, 31%, and 10 of 20 free throws, 50%. Grangeville was 7 for 42 from the field, 17%, and 7 for 17 at the line, 41%.

Vs. Logos
Prairie played Logos on Saturday shortly after 3 of the players had found out their grandfather, Jake Wren, had died. That made it an emotional game for Wemhoff, Schlader and Lexi Schumacher as Wren had been a presence at their games at every level.
Prairie took a 28-10 lead by the end of the first quarter and led 52-17 at the half. The Pirates shut out Logos in the third quarter, 30-0 to take an 82-17 lead into the fourth quarter. That might be the most points a Prairie girls team has scored in 3 quarters.
The running clock fourth quarter saw each team score 8 points.
Wemhoff scored a game, season and career high 31 points and added 13 assists. Lexi Schumacher also had a season and career high 20 points in the game. Enneking scored 9 points. Schlader scored 8 points and had 11 steals. Geis also scored 8 points. Hanson and Kylie Schumacher each scored 6. Sydney Shears scored 2.
Prairie also won the JV contest 39-7.
