Girls team, two boys advance to State
The Prairie girls cross country team won the team title at the Regional Meet held Thursday, Oct. 19 at the LCSC course in the Lewiston Orchards.
Also two members of the boys team qualified for state.
The girls team scored 18 points to easily beat out 2^nd place Potlatch.
Logos likely would have won the team title but they had just 5 runners and their fifth runner was unable to finish.
Prairie’s top finisher was Evelyn Gehring who placed 4^th in 22:57. Olivia Uhlenkott was 6^th in 23:06. Aubree Geis was 7^th in 23:11. Elizabeth Severns was 11^th in 24:39. All four would have qualified for state as individuals and received medals. Natalie Goeckner was 15^th in 26:37. Callie Remacle was 18^th in 27:29. Alaina Lustig was 28^th in 32:28. Ella McLeod was designated as a JV runner as you can only have 7 run in the varsity race. She was timed in 29:59 and will be an alternate for the team at State.
In the boys race Prairie finished 3^rd as a team, just 4 points behind Timberline. Timberline and Logos qualified for state as teams.
Ben Secrest and Chase Von Bargen both qualified for state as individuals and received medals.
Secrest was 13^th in 19:26 while VonBargen was 15^th in 19:28.
The top 16 qualified for state which means Jackson Enneking in 19^th fell just short. His time was 20:04. Max Rehder was 36^th in 22:30. Dylan Klapprich was 38^th in 23:20. Landon Riener was 39^th in 23:24. Zane Uptmor was 42^nd in 25:54. Gabe DeCaria ran as a JV runner and was timed in 28:09.
The State Meet will be at the Portneuf Wellness Center in Pocatello on Saturday, Oct. 28. The girls race will be held at 1 p.m. Mountain Time while the boys race will be held at 2 p.m. Mountain Time.
