Lady Patriots lose at C.V. Patriots Volleyball schedule for 2024The St. John Bosco Lady Patriots had just one match this past week and that was a late addition to the schedule. They traveled to Kooskia to play the Clearwater Valley Rams on Saturday, Sept. 14 and lost in 4 sets, 16-25, 20-25, 25-23 and 16-25.In the opening game Bosco scored first on an ace by Rachel Sonnen. They then gave up 4 straight points. They were able to get back within 1 at 6-7 on an ace by Sarah Waters. C.V. then scored 3 straight for a 6-10 lead. A missed serve and an ace by Noelle Chmelik cut the deficit to 8-10 but C.V. then pulled away to a 9-15 lead and the Patriots never got closer then 4 at 12-16 as C.V. wound up winning by 9. They fell behind 0-2 in the second game but got a sideout on a missed serve. Sonnen then served the Patriots to a 5-2 lead with 2 aces with Julia Wassmuth and Catherine Seubert each adding a kill. C.V. then outscored the Patriots 2-8 to take a 7-10 lead. A missed serve and then an ace by Wassmuth cut the lead to 9-10. After a pair of sideouts made it 10-11, C.V. then scored 3 straight. Bosco got back within 1 on a net foul, a kill by Chmelik and a kill by Presley Schoo. C.V. again pulled away and led by as many as 8 at 16-24. Bosco tried to rally and staved off game point 4 times, all on kills by Waters, before succumbing in a 20-25 loss. The fourth game started like it was going to be a sweep as the Patriots fell behind 0-2, 1-4 and 2-7. At 2-7, C.V. missed a serve and Schoo went to the service line. She served 2 aces while Sonnen and Waters each scored a kill as Bosco tied the set at 7-7. The Patriots fell behind 8-13 but after a kill by Sonnen, Chmelik served 3 straight aces to cut the deficit to 12-13. Bosco finally tied it again at 15 after a kill by Seubert and an ace by Waters. After trading sideouts, Wassmuth served 2 aces for an 18-16 lead. C.V. tied it 3 more times but couldn’t retake the lead. At 22-22, Wassmuth scored a kill on a push to the corner and Sonnen served an ace to get to set point at 24-22. C.V. scored a kill but Seubert scored on a spike that just caught the sideline to give Bosco the set, 25-23. Bosco took the early lead in the fourth set on a kill by Savannah Perrin, an ace by Sonnen and a kill by Schoo. C.V. came back to take a 4-6 lead but Bosco reclaimed it wit 2 kills by Waters and an ace by Wassmuth that made it 7-6. Unfortunately Bosco led just 1 more time, at 9-8 after a joust at the net by Chmelik. C.V. then scored 7 straight points for a 9-15 lead and went on to win the match with a 16-25 set victory. Waters had 15 kills in the match with 1 assist and 1 ace. Wassmuth had 8 kills, 13 assists and 4 aces. Chmelik had 5 kills, 15 assists and 4 aces. Sonnen had 4 kills and 7 aces. Seubert had 3 kills and 1 assist. Schoo had 2 kills and 3 aces. Perrin had 2 kills, 2 assists and 1 ace. Miah Mager had 1 assist. The Patriots are now 2-3 overall and 2-2 in league play. This week they will christen the new Angelus Center gym with their home debut Thursday, Sept. 19 at 6 p.m. against Deary. They play again at home on Monday, Sept. 23 against Highland, also at 6 p.m. St. John Bosco won the JV match 25-23, 24-26, 15-8. They fell behind 1-5 and 4-9 in the opening game and still trailed 11-15 when then started coming back. Madeline Wassmuth scored a kill then Seubert served 2 aces to make it 14-15. The Patriots finally took their first lead of the set after trailing 17-19. A bricked serve by C.V. was followed by a kill each by CeCe Remacle and Seubert for a 20-19 lead. After a C.V. sideout, Wassmuth scored a kill on a free ball. Perrin then served an ace and Seubert scored a kill to make it 23-20. C.V. got within 24-23 before Perrin scored a kill when her service dig found an open spot on C.V.’s side of the net. In the second set Bosco fell behind 0-2 the took a 3-2 lead on 2 aces by Remacle. The rest of the set was played within a 3-point margin. Bosco took a 3-points lead at 16-13 after a kill by Perrin but C.V. then scored 5 straight. Bosco again took a 3-point lead when Madeline Wassmuth served 3 straight aces to make it 22-19. C.V. came back to tie at 22-22. A missed serve and a kill by Seubert made it 24-22 but Bosco couldn’t score the set point. C.V. scored 4 straight points to take the set. Bosco fell behind 1-5 in the third set but took their first lead on a 4-point service run by Madeline Wassmuth. Schoo scored 2 kills while Remacle and Perrin each scored 1 as Bosco took a 7-6 lead. After a trade of sideouts, Perrin served 3 aces and Remacle and Madeline Wassmuth each added a kill for a 13-7 lead.
