Track team brings home two state trophies
Dylan Uhlenkott earned 4 gold medals at the State Track Meet while Sage Elven won her third straight gold medal in the discus.Dylan Uhlenkott makes up the stagger by halfway down the backstretch in the 400, one of his 4 first place medals.
The boys and girls teams each brought home the second place team trophy, improving on last year when the boys were third and the girls fourth.
Uhlenkott won the open 100 in 11.15, the 200 in 22.55 and the 400 in 48.82. He broke the state meet record in the prelims with a time of 48.53. That is also a new school record breaking the mark of 49.78 set a couple weeks ago at Kamiah.
Elven won the discus with a mark of 142’0”. She also medaled in the shot put, placing second at 38’2” and in the javelin, placing 6th at 99’2”.
The boys repeated as gold medalists in the 4x100 and 4x200. Cole Duclos, Matt Wemhoff, Secrest and Uhlenkott won the 4x100 in 43.80, just 0.2 seconds off the school record set last year at State. The 4x200 team of Duclos, Peyton Stamper, Wemhoff and Secrest won with a time of 1:32.65. They got some help when favored Logos had a bad second handoff but Secrest wound up passing at least two other runners in the final 50 meters to pull out the win.
Also medaling at state for the boys team was Wemhoff with a 5th place finish in the 400 at 51.78.
Also medaling at state for the girls were:
Sydney Shears finished 2nd in both the 800 and 1600 in 2:21.41 and 5:21.53 respectively.
Hailey Hanson earned 2 medals. She was 5th in the discus at 116’6”, 5th in the javelin at 99’5”. She just missed another medal with a 7th in the shot put at 34’6” but still earned 2 points for the team.
Mia Anderson finished 5th in the 300 hurdles in 48.49.
Aubree Geis finished 5th in the 400 at 1:00.34, a personal best. She was also 14th in the 200 in 27.79.
Nadia Cash finished 6th in the long jump at 16’0” to earn a medal. She was also 14th in the 100 in 13.67.
All 4 girls relays made it onto the medal stand.
The 4x200 team of Cash, Anderson Geis and Kennedy Riener was 2nd in 1:49.53.
The 4x100 team of Cash, Anderson, Sierra Oliver and Kennedy Riener was 4th in 51.62.
The medley team of Aubree Rehder, Avery Riener, McKenzie Hope and Shears was 5th in 1:56.76.
The 4x400 team of Avery Riener, Anderson, Geis and Shears was 6th in 4:17.33.
Other boys results:
Nate Forsmann earned 2 points for the team by finishing 7th in the discus with a mark of 135’3”.
Phineas Fitch placed 13th in the 1600 in 4:54.10.
Briggs Rambo was 14th in the 110 hurdles in 17.52.
Duclos was unable to clear opening height in the pole vault, which was equal to the school record mark he holds at 10’6”.
Other girls results:
Oliver earned 2 points for the team in the pole vault by equaling her school record mark of 9’0” which was good for 7th place. She was also 13th in the 100 hurdles in 17.84 and 14th in the 300 hurdles in 51.49.
Blake Uhlenkott earned 1/6 of a point for the team with a 6-way tie for 8th in the pole vault at 8’0”.
Macie Uhlenkott was 10th in the discus at 101’10”.
Avery Riener finished 11th in the triple jump at 32’3½”.
Callie Remacle was 13th in the high jump at 4’8”.
Alli Rambo was 14th in the pole vault at 7’6”.
As a team the boys scored 56 points, well behind first place Logos, who had 150, and 4 points ahead of third place Butte County.
The girls team scored 80.16 points. Logos was first with 112 points. They were 7 points ahead of third place Valley.

Sage Elven won her third straight gold medal in the discus at State. She also took second in the shot put.

Cole Duclos is about to hand off to Peyton Stamper in the 4x200 while at right, disaster struck the favored Logos squad.

Matt Wemhoff hands off to Ben Secrest for the final leg of the 4x200 relay. Secrest powered past two other anchor runners in the final 50 meters to claim first place.

Troy's Jackson Marone nosed out Dylan Uhlenkott in the prelims of the 100 but Uhlenkott won in the finals.

Dylan Uhlenkott comes off the curve with the lead in the 200 meter dash and went on to win.

Ben Secrest hands off a lead to Dylan Uhlenkott in the 4x100 after an outstanding third leg where he passed two runners. Uhlenkott maintained the lead to give Prairie the win.

Sydney Shears runs through the rain in the 800 meter final where she finished 2nd.

Sydney Shears pulled up alongside the leader in the 1600 in the final straightaway but the Grace runner managed to hold on for the win.

Hailey Hanson finished 5th in the discus for a state medal  and just missed a medal in the shot put finishing 7th. She also earned a 5th in the javelin.

Nadia Cash went 16'0" in the long jump to finish 6th.
