Cottonwood City Council meets The Cottonwood City Council held their December meeting Monday, Dec. 8. They approved a joint powers agreement with the West Camas Transportation Planning Council which approved adding Union Highway District and also updated an agreement on adding new members. They also voted to terminate a fire department mutual aid agreement with the City of Ferdinand since Ferdinand does not have a fire department at this time. In reports, police chief Terry Cochran reported he had 96 calls for service during the month. He investigated several crashes and one domestic violence call that turned out to be just yelling. Also a couple of false alarms. In the water report, the city pumped 2,182,200 gallons of water and sold 1,769,224 for a loss of 459,916. The city crew estimated 275,000 gallons where used in flushing hydrants which brings the actual loss down to 8.47%. Well #5 is currently offline as the pump and motor are being pulled and replaced. It was reported it was a good thing they did as there was enough wear that it could have failed in the near future. The city is waiting for the final paperwork from the state on well #2 and once received that pump and motor replacement project will be considered completed. In the sewer report Brett Miller reported they have started discharging to the creek. The city crew cleared several lines in the system. Knife River has notice to proceed with Phase I of the treatment system project as of Dec. 10. It will be March before Avista is available to move the power lines. Bids for Phase II will go out in Match. Kristie Holthaus reported they have graded the gravel streets and finished patchwork on Lewiston Street. Linda Nida reported poles have been installed for sunshades at the city park. There was nothing new to report for the airport and the fire department had 2 calls during the month. The meeting adjourned at 7:41 p.m. The next regular meeting will be Monday, January 12 at 7 p.m. |
