Booster Bulletin Happy New Years to you all. A time of celebration, reflection and goal setting. Not
because the changing of the year is really any different than any other
day during the year, but as a society we have set it up to be the day
of, “I will start doing better.” Some of us want better health, some want to gain back relationships lost or I’m going to be a more positive person. Whatever it is that is driving you to make a New Years resolution, may you be blessed to work diligently towards your goal. I hope what I write next helps someone out there start the new year with a little motivation or pep in their step. Since this is the booster bulletin, much of what I encourage you to think about is booster, school, community, student and athlete driven. But everyone’s personal health and well-being is part of that community dynamic. So, it all ties together. So much in life can be dictated by the little things. It is amazing what your efforts of searching out a student or athlete and offering your appreciation for their job well done can do. This might be an athlete who played 1 minute during a game but played that one minute like it was the most important minute ever played. It might be the students who you see listed on the honor roll. We all have struggles; we all have hard days. Be the booster, the coach, the athlete or the community member who notices and lifts people up. If becoming more involved in supporting the lives of students and athletes is on your agenda, I would love to see you participate in the booster club meetings or some event during the year. We do have some very dedicated officers. I’m blessed to get to work with them. Please consider a jump into more active involvement with the booster club this coming year. Coaches, we have this huge opportunity. Its not about winning, even though everyone of us wants to win. That is the side business. Our jobs are about building young adults. Teaching about adversity and hard work. Building relationships and helping build confidence. Proving to them that things that may appear out of reach, can be achieved. As a coach my favorite moments are when athletes, say I didn’t think I could do that. And seeing them after High School attacking the next big thing in life. So, please build kids up, help them find the positive in sports and school. Help each athlete find their goal, something to work towards and how to improve. Communicate and support. To those in the community. Find something small to work towards it this year. Maybe its being a positive thinker. Maybe its smiling or greeting people. Take that morning walk, build positive relationships. Participate in a club or organization that needs you. We are blessed to live where we do. We have great community support. We have great kids. Good luck on your New Year and see you out chasing your Goal. Glenn Poxleitner | COTTONWOOD
