Cereal Schools set for Greencreek and Lewiston
The 2025 North Idaho Cereal Schools will be taking placed January 27 at Greencreek Community Hall and January 28 at the Ketch Pen in Lewiston.
Programming and lunch is brought to you by the University of Idaho Extension, the Idaho Barley Commission and the Idaho Wheat Commission.
The program runs from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. each day.

8:15-8:45 a.m.-Northern Idaho Cereals and Grain-Legume variety testing results and updates by Kurt Schroeder, U of I Cropping Systems Agronomist
9:15-9:45 a.m.-Wheat and chickpea herbicide tolerance and Wild Oat Herbicide Resistance Survey by John Campbell and Traci Rauch, UI Weed Scientists
9:45-10 a.m.-Break
10:15-10:45 a.m.-North Idaho Grains: Output and Input Markets by Colby Field, UI Extension Agricultural Economist
10:45-11 a.m.-Idaho Wheat Commission updates
11-11:30 a.m.-Climate-Smart Agriculture in Action: Monitoring, Measuring and Verifying GHG Reductions by Safdar Bashir and Zachry Kayler, UI Research Scholar Soil and Water Resources Department; Associate Professor Soil and Water Resources Department.
11:30 a.m.-12 noon-Spring cover crop effects on weeds, insects and crop production in Pacific Northwest dryland agriculture by Subodh Adhikari and Kendall Kahl, Research Assistant Professor, Department of Entomology, Plant Pathology and Nematology; Research Specialist, Soil and Water Resources Lab Manager.
12 noon-Agriculture and Wildfire Mitigation Lunch & Speaker by Crystal Kolden, Associate Professor of Fire Science and Director, UC Merced Fire Resilience Center
