Schacher earns first place at Clearwater Classic Avery Schacher earned a first place medal in the girls 165 lb. weight class at the Clearwater Classic wrestling tournament at Lewiston Friday and Saturday, Jan. 17-18. In the first round she won by pin over Anna Agazzi of Clearwater Valley in 1:00. She received a bye in the second round in the third round she won by pin over Amelia Berger of Potlatch in 53 seconds. The boys didn’t do quite as well and got a lot more wrestling in. In the 126C bracket Zachary Schumacher lost by pin to Cody Andrea of Newport in 37 seconds. He then lost to Riley Johnson of Lewiston by pin in 1:43. In his final match he lost by pin to Dominic Luna of Pullman in 1:06. In the 126 lbs. final bracket he lost by pin to Derek Rehder of Moscow in 1:08. After a bye, he lost by pin to Kaden Nokes of Tri-Balley in 1:21. In the 138F bracket Ashton Martin lost by pin to Jackson Frantz of Newport by pin in 2:40. He then lost by technical fall 0-16 6o Jaden Ebert of Davenport. In the 138 championship bracket he lost by pin to Josh Whitesides of Grangeville in 26 seconds. He was then eliminated by Brodee Casto of Asotin who pinned him in 3:19. Jake Quintal wrestled in the 190A bracket and lost by pin to Riley Berger of Coeur d’Alene in 52 seconds. He won by medical forfeit over Gunnar Eversole of Priest River. He then lost by technical all 0-15 to Lance Hilton of Ridgeline. In the 190 lbs. championship bracket he received a first round by then won by pin over Andrew Blankenship of St. Maries in 1:10. In the quarterfinals he lost by pin to Brice Cuthbert of Lewiston in 3:34. He was then eliminated by Bradley Waits of Lewiston who won by pin in 3:18. Next action for the team are the Clearwater Valley North vs. South Duals at Kooskia on Jan. 24-25.
