Patriots teams lose 2 of 3 The St. John Bosco Lady Patriots finished their regular season with a 41-57 loss to Nezperce on Senior Night Tuesday, Jan. 27 at Cottonwood. The Patriots however won their game against Nezperce 65-61. The game was also Senior Night for the boys team. Finally the boys traveled to Clarkston on Monday, Feb. 2 and lost to the Clarkston JV 50-54. Girls vs. Nezperce The Lady Patriots lone senior, Savannah Perrin, was honored prior to the start of the game.![]() Nezperce started the game by taking a 0-9 lead. Miah Mager put the Patriots on the board at the 3:11 mark with a basket. After another Nezperce basket, Perrin got on the scoreboard with a pair of baskets to make it 6-11. Nezperce closed the first quarter with a pair of baskets for a 6-15 lead. The 2 teams played close to even early in the second as Nezperce outscored Bosco 6-7. Perrin and Mager each scored a basket and Catherine Seubert made 2 free throws that made it 12-22. Nezperce then scored 10 straight points to double their lead. Mager made a pair of baskets to close the half and start what turned out to be a big rally by Bosco. Nezperce led 16-32 at the half. Bosco started the second half with 14 straight points to cut the Nezperce lead to just 2 points at 30-32. Perrin opened the half with a basket and Seubert followed. Catherine Beckman hit a 3 and Mager followed with another 3. Madeline Wassmuth scored a basket and Perrin scored to make it 30-32. Nezperce broke a 9 minute scoring drought with a basket. Mager scored a putback to get Bosco back within 2 at 32-34 with 1:50 left in the third quarter. At that point the Bosco rallied died out as Nezperce scored 2 baskets to close the third quarter and then scored the first 6 of the fourth quarter to rebuild their lead to 12 points. Wassmuth scored a putback to break the run. Nezperce continued their run though with a 1-10 run. A free throw by Seubert was the only point in that stretch. Perrin scored a pair of baskets to break the run. Nezperce scored a 3-point run. Beckman scored the final 2 points of the game. Perrin had a double-double for the Patriots with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Mager also had a double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds. Seubert and Beckman each scored 5 points and Wassmuth scored 4. Bosco had a 43-39 edge on the boards. Seubert made it 3 Patriots with double figures in rebounds with 10. Beckman had 6 steals. Mager had 4 assists while Beckman and Wassmuth had 3 assists each. Bosco was 18 for 52 from the field, 35%, and 3 for 11 at the line, 27%. Nezperce was 26 for 70 from the field, 37%, and 3 for 6 at the line, 50%. Bosco ends their season with a record of 6-8 overall, 2-8 in league. They will enter District as the #5 seed. Boys vs. Nezperce Prior to the start of the game, seniors Tommy Rose and Connor Nuxoll were honored along with their families. Bosco
took an early 11-4 lead. Nathan Wassmuth scored the first points of the
game then Nezperce tied it. Nuxoll scored and Nezperce tied it again
with 2 free throws. Bosco then scored 7 straight. Rose scored a pair of
baskets and Nuxoll hit a 3-pointer. Nezperce’s Slater Kuther answered
with 5 straight points to cut the lead to 2. Nuxoll scored a basket and
Kuter answered. Ignatius Parmantier closed out the first quarter with a
basket for a 15-11 lead.Nezperce scored 6 straight to open the second quarter and take their first lead of the game. Nuxoll tied it with a putback. Nezperce took the lead back with a 3. Bosco then scored 7 straight to retake the lead. Wassmuth scored on an inbounds play. Nuxoll scored a lay-up. Rose scored a free throw and Wassmuth scored a putback to make it 24-20. Nezperce scored then Cody Weckman scored a pair of driving lay-ups for a 28-22 lead. Nezperce scored but Nuxoll answered. Kuther made 2 free throws then Pierce Frei was fouled on a buzzer beating 3-point attempt. He made 2 of 3 free throws to make it 32-26 at the half. Wassmuth opened the second half scoring with a putback and Parmantier added a free throw. Nezperce scored 5 straight to cut the lead back down to 4. Rose scored a putback and a lay-up by Parmantier bracketed a free throw by Nezperce. Nezperce then scored 4 straight to pull within 3. Weckman and Joseph Waters each scored a basket to puts the lead back to 7. Nezperce then scored a 3 followed by a 3-point play to pull within 1. Wassmuth then scored but Nezperce came back with a 3-point play and a buzzer beating basket to take a 45-47 lead into the fourth quarter. The Nighthawks scored to open the fourth quarter for a 4-point lead. Nuxoll scored but Nezperce answered with a free throw. Weckman then hit a 3 to tie the game at 50. Nezperce took back the lead with a basket. Then Bosco scored 5 straight on a basket by Parmantier, a free throw by Henry Baldwin and a putback by Wassmuth for a 55-52 lead. Nezperce scored to get back within 1. Parmantier hit a 3 for a 4-point lead. Nezperce scored to get within 2. Wassmuth scored a putback and Parmantier scored from the baseline for a 6-point lead with 55 seconds left. Kuther cut the lead in half with a 3 with 38 seconds left. Nuxoll scored a lay-up and Parmantier added a free throw for a 65-59 lead with 9 seconds left. Nezperce scored a final basket to make the final margin of 4 points. Nuxoll scored 17 points to lead the Patriots in scoring. Wassmuth had a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds. Parmantier scored 13 with 8 coming in the fourth quarter rally. Weckman scored 9, Rose 7, Frei and Waters 2 each and Baldwin 1. Bosco dominated the boards 48-27. Tying Wassmuth for team-leading honors was Rose with 12. Weckman had 3 steals and 4 assists. Rose had 3 assists. Kuther had a game-high 28 points for Nezperce. The Patriots were 28 for 66 from the field, 42%, and 6 for 13 at the line, 46%. Nezperce was 21 for 58 from the field, 36%, and 15 for 18 at the line, 83%. Bosco also won the JV game 50-27. At Clarkston JV The Patriots second half rally against the Clarkston JV came up short as they fell too far behind in the first half.Bosco trailed 9-12 after one quarter and 16-32 at the half. They outscored Clarkston 17-11 in the third quarter to cut the deficit to 33-43. They outscored them in the fourth quarter again at 17-11 to come up 4 points short. Clarkston was hitting from long range in the first half as their first 8 baskets were all 3-pointers as they took an 11-24 lead. We would have more details but the NFHS feed we were watching ended in the middle of the third quarter. Wassmuth led the Patriots in scoring with 14 points while Nuxoll scored 10. Baldwin scored 8, Weckman 6, Frei and Rosse 5 each and Parmantier 2. The Patriots are now 6-6 overall and 5-4 in league play. The JV team won 64-45 over the Clarkston C team.
