Girls District basketball starts District tournaments start this week for the Prairie and St. John Bosco girls basketball teams. Prairie
Prairie started District play first. They are the #1
seed and and defeated #8 seed Logos 60-14 at Cottonwood Wednesday, Feb.
5Other opening rounds games are #7 Potlatch at #2 Lapwai, #6 Troy at #3 Kamiah and #5 C.V. at #4 Kendrick. Lapwai defeated Potlatch while the other two games were postponed to Thursday, Feb. 6 due to road conditions. The tournament moves to Lewiston High School on Saturday, Feb. 8. Prairie will play the Kendrick-C.V. winner in the third game of the day at 4 p.m. Tournament action continues Monday, Feb. 10 with 2 loser out games at 6 and 7:30 p.m.. Another loser-out game would be played Wednesday, Feb. 12 at 6 p.m. followed by the District Championship game at 7:30 p.m. The championship game loser would play the early game winner on Thursday at 6 p.m. for the #2 spot to State. State will be at Columbia High School in Nampa on Feb. 20-22. St. John Bosco
St. John Bosco will open District play on Saturday,
Feb. 8 at 2 p.m. They are the #5 seed and would play at Highland.
Timberline will play at Nezperce at the same time.
The winners will play again on Monday, Feb. 10, at Lapwai High School. If Nezperce beats Timberline, they would play #2 seeded Deary while the Bosco vs. Highland winner would play #1 seeded Genesee. If Timberline upsets Nezperce, they would play Genesee and the Bosco-Highland winner would play Deary. The Genesee game would be at 6 p.m. Monday followed by the Deary game at 7:30. Monday’s losers would play at 6 p.m. on Tuesday followed by the winners at 7:30, both at Lapwai. The winner of the 7:30 game is the District champion and will advance to State. The championship game loser would play the early game winner at 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 13 at 7 p.m. for second place at District. That winner will travel to Post Falls on Saturday, Feb. 15 for a state play-in game against the District 1 champion. ![]() The Prairie Lady Pirates opened District play Wednesday at Cottonwood against Logos and won 60-14.
