Lady Pirates qualify for State
For the 11th straight year Prairie and Lapwai met in the district championship game and for the 11th straight time Lapwai won it, 27-39, at Lewiston High School Thursday, Feb. 8. The Lady Pirates came back on Saturday though and edged Kamiah 49-46 to finish 2nd at District and earn a berth into the State Tournament. 
They will play District 4 runner-up Murtaugh in the first round at State Thursday, Feb. 15 at 11:00 a.m. PST. . . .

Lady Patriots season ends
The St. John Bosco Lady Patriots had a 4 point lead at halftime but wound up losing 30-34 to Nezperce in a loser-out game at the District Tournament in Lapwai Wednesday, Feb. 7. . . .

Mr. Rehder had the opportunity to take these 2 Prairie Pirates to lunch on Friday, February 9th. Brynlie Lockett and Reagan Curry had their names drawn at the last R3 assembly for Lunch with the Principal. AgWest Farm Credit recently awarded a $3,500 Rural Community Grant to St. John Bosco Academy to use towards the purchase of items needed in their new kitchen in the Angelus Center. The regional Elks Hoop Shoot was hosted in Lewiston by the Lewiston Elks Lodge #896 on Jan 20th.  Local Prairie Elementary students Hailey Frei, age group 8-9, and Bailey Schumacher, age group 10-11, won for their groups with 13/25 shots and 15/25 shots respectively.  The girls are shown with their trophies from the regional competition.  Winning there entitled them to participate in the State Elks Hoop Shoot at Blackfoot on Feb 3rd, where Hailey tied for 4th in her age group and Bailey placed 3rd in hers.  The girls and their parents, Nick & Crystal Frei and Doug & Julie Schumacher, want to thank the Elks Lodge for helping sponsor their trip to Blackfoot.  A visit to the Potato Museum and Craters of the Moon was an added bonus. Photo by Julie Schumacher.
