To the Library and Beyond On Thursday 20 February the Board of Directors of Prairie Community Library, Inc. met to elect directors and officers for this year. Current directors are Joan Brown, Frances Conklin, Carissa Jones, Kathleen Steinke, Colleen Wilson and Emmett Wilson. All officers – President Emmett Wilson, Vice-President Carissa Jones, Treasurer Colleen Wilson, Historian Joan Brown and Secretary Kathleen Steinke – were reelected. Frances Conklin will be in charge of public relations, and she and Carissa Jones will be developing plans for our 40-year anniversary celebrations this year. Be sure to stop by the Library on Saturdays between 10 AM and 3 PM to visit with Joan and Frances. Joan has reviewed the 2000 book, The Roswell UFO Crash. Kal K. Korff, a UFO researcher, studied UFOs for more than 27 years prior to writing this book. Mr. Korff presents a detailed account of all the professed witnesses to the 1947 Roswell incident, chiefly concerning a purported UFO crash north of Roswell with possibly some extra-terrestrial aliens on board. The author describes the futuristic materials recovered at the crash site and the US Air Force cover-up of the incident, intended by the government to spare the public uncertain information about extra-terrestrials. The author proceeds to explain the evidence of what actually happened at the crash site and what the crash site debris truly were. “Read the book to find out the answers!!” March is American Red Cross Month, and – in honor of Dr. Seuss' birthday – March is designated as National Reading Month, a month to prompt Americans of all ages to read every day. Tuesday 4 March is Mardi Gras, “Fat Tuesday,” and Wednesday 5 March is the first day of Lent. In 2019 PCL loaned 2,228 items; in 2022 PCL volunteers entertained 665 attendees at Story Hour. [There really should be more words for the socially-stimulating educational-entertainment provided at Story Hour.] Prairie Community Library continues welcoming partners and projects that complement our mission and purpose. “Volunteering provides a sense of purpose and helps us improve our emotional well-being.” Send your volunteer message to cottonwoodlib@gmail.com. "Service is what life is all about." Please recommend improvements to the Library’s direction, priorities and customer service. Thank you all! | COTTONWOOD
