Avery Schacher took a 28-0 record into the State Tournament last weekend at Nampa but ran into some stiff competition and was out after 3 matches.
In the 170 lbs. bracket she won her first match by pin in 3:34 over Jordan Lewis of Fruitland.
In her quarterfinal match against Hailee Wilfong of Kuna, she scored a takedown to open the match. Wilfong then scored an escape and 12 seconds later scored a takedown and then ended the match with a pin at the 1:45 mark. It was Schacher’s first loss of the season.
In the consolation bracket, Schacher matched up with Lila Fairchild of Ridgevue. After a scoreless first period, Schacher started the second period in the down position. She scored a reversal but 23 seconds later Fairchild scored a reversal and soon followed with a pin to end Schacher’s season.
Schacher finished her sophomore season with a record of 29-2.
